Blackcapped chickadees Pic

It has been so long since I posted a pic that I forgot how! I typed a long message three times and lost it all three times. That's why I made sure the pic got posted first!

I have to thank Karen (Purplemoon) for posting a link to the Pfaltzgraff website one night.

I had been trying to find some special dishes to leave to my youngest DGS when I died. (Y'all remember I shared in an earlier post that my oldest DGS had already asked for my cabbageleaf dishes.) I had never found anything until I saw the darling stoneware blackcapped chickadee dishes.

They are the perfect dishes for him because he has been crazy about blackcapped chickadees since he was barely 2 when I brought him a book home from vacation that had pictures of different birds on each page with a button that you could push to hear each bird's call. He loves to watch them eating at the feeders. If we're outside and he hears one he's quick to find it.

He loves these dishes, too! I bought him 4 place settings. Every time he is here he asks to eat on his dishes.

So, I know that he will love his dishes and have something special to remember me by. Thanks so much, Karen.

Sorry I had to post such a big pic, but you couldn't really see the birds very well with the smaller sizes. They are much prettier IRL. One of these days I will learn how to take better pics!

    Betty,
I just love your "bequeathing stories." You've made me think about such things and now I am going to look around for special things to leave my grandchildren.

Oh, those are lovely. I know they will be treasured by your DGS when he is an adult as much as they are now.

I think these might even work with the plates that lynninnewmexico is trying to match. Hmmm... I hope she sees these. I remember her posting a pic of plates with pinecones.

    Betty,
I remember when you posted that you had bought something from the link that Karen posted. The dishes are very sweet! And a lovely story to attach to it too.

I LOVE those plates. I'm a chicadee lover too. I'm glad that you found just the right plates for your other GS. We grandma's can't play favorites, LOL. - Gail

Betty, those dishes are a wonderful colour and the chickadee is adorable. I just LOVE IT that you have grandSONs who care about dishes! Dishes are a basic item that everyone, male or female, needs and there is no reason boys/men can't appreciate a nice pattern and even more so, when the design has special meaning to them. What a terrific Grandma you are, Betty to encourage them in that regard and how blessed you are to have such terrific GS's.

Told y'all he has to eat off of them every time he comes!
Actually, this was the day that the UPS man delivered them. When DGS got here I had to get a pic right away. He wasn't hungry, so I had to bribe him with a heart-shaped puddle of ketchup and his favorite chicken nuggets with blue Kool-aid!!
Thanks for all of your comments about the dishes. I couldn't believe it when I saw them on the website. Besides, I have to get them addicted early so they will take care of my treasures when I'm gone!

Now Thanks to Lynn in New Mexico, I've got to go looking for some fish dishes for my son!

Aw, what a cutie he is. And I think its so wonderful he loves these little birds, AND loves dishes. You are a lucky grandma, and most definitely the kind of grandma that kids are lucky to have!!
The dishes are really pretty, I'm so glad you got them.
But your story is the best part, gives one that "warm n fuzzy" feeling!

How cute, and what a nice Nana you are!
    The dishes are lovely!
I miss the Pfaltzgraff outlet clearance center we has,,,now the only way you can buy is on line or in Dept stores.
The clearance center is where I found my cloche, and 26 cent black and white dishes...no more bargains like that!

Oh, a special treat, we get to see your little grandson. My grandsons (they're 3 and 6) could live on chicken nuggets, if they were allowed. I love the heart shaped ketchup. - Gail

Thanks for admiring my "Shadow"!! Aren't grandchildren fun?
And I've enjoyed encouraging him in his love of birds. Blackcapped Chickadees have such pretty songs. DH and I were walking the other day and one of them was sitting in a tree in our yard singing his heart out and several more were answering his calls. Beautiful music to my ears.

Betty, i've seen dishes with birds, but I think yours are prettiest i've ever seen! I love bids, period, any kind! I had them in the wintertime back in IL~They would come right up to the window and sit on the ledge. Of course I had feeders, so they were just letting me know they were out of food. I love the Goldfinch, too. We even had the little Titmouse or would more than one be Titmice? LOL

I was constantly getting my Audubon bird book out! Glad to see you're enjoying your dishes with the little ones. A well set table gives them a chance to practice their 'good manners'. ;o)
