Use your 'Easter' Imagination

Hi Everyone! Tonight I am having a dinner party (last minute since it was actually suppose to be tomorrow night but DH has to work at the lat minute) but I wanted to describe my table. You all are very creative so I am sure you can imagine what I am describing.

Tablecloth came from Kohl's last weekend-easter cut out applicate (sp) tulips, eggs etc. Exactly what I have been looking for..great price 60% off with an additional 15% as a personal shopping day.

Yellow napkins that I ironed into pleats folded in half, put a tulip napkin ring (Kohls last weekend sale) then unfolded the napkin so it looks like a fan. This sits on top of white plates with a light purple band and some type of leaf pattern. Really want to start investing in those beautiful green plates everyone has here.

In front of the plates sits a cute bunny holding up a cabbage egg holder (found those at Michael's crafts on sale for $1.24) Inside the egg holder is easter grass and an egg with a hole cut in the top to act like a vase. Inside the "vase" is a fresh tulip. It is really cute-I am really excited to see everyones reaction to that.

Center of table has one of those large glass hurricanes with a candle and surrounding the candle I poured in several bags of cheap pastel jelly beans. To the right and left this are 2 new bunnies that DH discovered the other night-never thought he notice. One is looking to one side of the table and the other is looking the opposite so each side gets a "full frontal and full backal" bunny shots. Oh yeah the bunnies are sitting on some easter grass with some glitter eggs (finally found a use for the hundreds of plastic eggs the kids have accumulated over the years - painted with glue & sprinkled with matching glitter...love them can't wait to make more). Sat them on the grass to help POP them..learned that from Judith and others in different threads.

Now for the best-on the other side of each bunny is glass bowl (orb like)...incerted a small drinking glass and filled the space between the bowl and cup with more jelly beans up to close to the top of the drinking glass. Carefully filled the glass with water and cut the remaining tulips short and put them in the glass. I suprised myself how cute it turned out.

YES YES YES I will take pictures and learn how to get them posted.

Since I am having easter for at least 14 next week will need to reset the table for the adults and come up with something for the 5 kids table (ages 4-14).

I have to thank you all for posting your creative ideas as it has helped me alot. By the way Stud of Connecticut got a new ribbon last night and really tied his vignette together. He said he felt quite naked with out it. :)

Heidi, your table sounds very, very, nice! I bet it it pretty. I had thought about using the jelly beans in my clear vase also. This forum is so great, just lots of neat ideas!!! I hope to get to Kohls in a few days, hope they have some bargains left!

I agree with Judith, your written description created a beautiful image in my mind--however, with that said, I will be eagerly waiting for your pics! LOL

I know you are going to get so many compliments from all your guests too!

Thank you everyone, glad you were able to visualize it. Guests are my parents and another couple who just happen to have the cabbage plates. She just asked if she could bring anything...I should have responded "yeah your plates" :) I am not very confident when it comes to my tablescapes and decorating-I actually have my mother do both 1) because of my lack of confidence and 2) I usually leave the table to last and panic that it isn't done so she comes over and saves my butt. I think she will be proud.

Wish you ladies lived closed because my party has gone from 4 couples to 3 and now I have an opening!

Heidi, I used to save the tablesetting to do last, but did learn that one little trick. And I'm sure your mother will love your tablesetting.

Where do you live? I don't have dinner plans for tonight. ;~) And I forgot to ask...did you do the egg shells yourself to hold the tulips?

Hi everyone, snuck out of work early on Friday for the dinner party, it was very good. Everyone loved the tablescape. Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures prior to everyone sitting down because our one of our water lines in the basement decided that Friday afternoon would be a good time to let go and flood the basement. So the start of the pary was a little chaotic. I did reset the table so I will find the camera and related gizmo's that go with it and get them posted soon.

Sandi, yes I did the egg shells myself. Took a scissor & cut a small opening, dumped the yolks out, cleaned and filled it with water. It is really cute.

Had to laugh at a comment, I just got done describing how I took the kids old plastic eggs and put glitter on them. Someone then proceeds to ask if I blew out those eggs. Guess there was a little bit too much wine consumed : )

    Happy Monday...Heidi
