Do you like this bath?

Hi,

I'm trying to come up with a modern design for my Master Bath. This picture has the carrera floor, and the glass tile on the walls. Do you like this look? Is this something that could become "dated" quickly? What about the colors? The green/blue with the Carrera- Do you like this combo?

I like it but not for a Master Bath. I see it for a powder room or rarely used bath.

I really like the ladder style shelf. What is that called?

All of that glass tile would be VERY bright and shiny if you have a lot of natural light. It wouldn't work in my master bath. A row or two or maybe just a single wall might work, though.

As long as we're being honest here, I'm not a fan of carrera. I helped my sister rip it out of her bath. It seems a little too... stuffy? formal? I know it's 'in' to mix styles today but the floor in that picture does nothing for me.

clarosietoo- I never thought about the "wear" factor, but I should take that into consideration, since it will be the the Master. I'm not sure about the ladder- I got the picture from the walkerzanger website..maybe they have resources?
just_julie- interesting perspective on the carrera...I was hoping that the glass would make it less formal. I would probably only put the glass one wall with the vanity. I don't have a lot of natural light, so that wouldn't be an issue...hmmm...

That's a VERY aggressive green. I think you might get tired of it quickly, and it's not good if you want to sell at some point. I like Carrera paired with a softer, more grayed down green, which is more classic. Honestly, I don't care for that bath at all...sorry!

If you want to go with a bright tile, use a more modern looking floor with it. I think a light, grayish limestone, or even a charcoal slate, or a terrazzo floor with a white background and green flecks of glass in it, which would be my first choice. Daltile has some new terrazzo tile.

Thank you guys for your honesty! LOL! That is what I needed to hear, since resell is definitely a consideration! I guess its back to the drawing board...again! LOL!
I currently have black slate floors. I was looking to do something a bit lighter, but maybe I will keep those floors, and find some accent tiles to go with??? I don't really have to have a bright tile, but my whole house is neutral in colors (grays, brown, whites), and I was looking to do something different in the bath.

I like it but it does seem a bit dark. The other thing I don't personally like is the size and lay out of the glass blocks seems a bit cinder-block to me. I know what your after you just have to find something that you love and try and come up with a plan around that. Easy for me to say I have been kicking ideas around for 4 years. Here is my big plan now WHITE! yep I really went out on a limb. I will find something for my vanity area that I love, right now I am considering MOP but not sure about that. With modern you just have to use simple products and keep it clean. Plus the workmanship has to be spot on perfect.

Have to say, the photo conveys exactly the aqua tone I am about to pay a ton to get RID of in my 1959-era bathroom! I feel as if I'm walking into an aquarium every time I go in the bathroom now ... I'd think in glass tiles, that effect would be even greater. We are going with muted off white tones for tile and floor with a beautiful wide strip of multi-colored honed slate mosaic that will introduce a group of colors (peach, coral, blue, green, silver) that I can pick up in lots of other ways (towels, etc). I am hoping the effect will be understated but bright and airy feeling. We're also using furniture style vanities that another owner can easily replace if they want a different look (though we don't plan to sell any time soon!)

I could see using glass tile mosaic as an accent strip, with a beautiful field tile in a solid (but not green). If you go with a black (or espresso) wood tone, that, too, will give a modern look I think. A good tile shop should be able to show you a variety of combinations -- I would take samples home and see what you like.

OK, OK, I'll drop the carrera marble and aqua blue tile idea..DH will be thrilled!! LOL!!! He pretty much said the same thing you guys are saying : )
I'm with you jjaazzy- I think I'll go with white! It will be much easier!

    Thanks again everyone!
