Here we go again!

Here I am again. Last year I posted a question about a mother/daughter banquet. Well it's that time again. I am somehow nominated to come up with the table decoratin.

I really need some help. This years theme is "walking with my mom".

So here is where I need your help. I was thinking of two different things. One could be, somehow make a centerpiece that goes down the table. (tables are long and narrow) with something that looks like a path with flowers on each side, but that is as far as I've gotten. Don't know how this would send the message.

The other idea I have is, maybe different phases of life between a mother and daughter. As you can see, I am not getting anywhere, so I would appreciate any and all ideas.

You can come up with your own, or add to mine. These are just thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

With the first idea, you could have a table runner with a few flowers on either side of the runner. In the center of the runner would be two sets of footprints. One would be of an adult size high heeled shoe (or maybe barefoot), the other of a child or toddler shoe/foot. The footprints could be made of paper or felt or you might go all out and walk on them with paint on your feet. A few flowers along the table runner 'path' would keep it somewhat elegant.

I like your idea about the runner down the center of the table. You could stagger large pots of flowers for the moms, alongside smaller pots for the daughters. Just a thought.

I can see lots and lots of little girl shoes. You would start with the white hi-top walker, go through the patent leather Church shoes years, ect. Spray paint all with pastel pink inside and out. Icey glitter bling could be put on top of the paint. These shoes could become your floral holders with floral foam and silk flowers. You may have to mount the shoes on placks of wood to hold floral arrangements. Or each 'pair' of shoes could be positioned in an 'L' shape, attached at the heel, and smaller vases would stand between each shoe. These arrangements could be the little bedding plants from the garden center. The center arrangement could be a large crystal vase, elevated, with Mommy's hi heels also painted pastel pink. You could make these arrangements be door prizes at the end of the occasion.

Friends closets also would probably have outgrown shoes to give freely to the occasion. (newbie Susie)

TO piggy back on duckie's idea, you might start at one end of the table, with high heel prints walking along side of toddler shoe prints (more steps by the toddler than the mom), transition into mary jane shoe prints along side mom's high heel prints, then those big ripple-y gym shoe prints next to mom's, then thick-heeled pumps next to mom's, and finally slender high heel prints next to mom's high heel prints.
Take a look at the Halloween wall paper that they use to make dungeon walls to use as inspiration and then use big sponges dipped in grey paint to make a cobblestone or brick pathway that meanders down the center of the table.

I love the idea of different pastel colored shoes too!
