Passover

We're hosting a sedar dinner tonight, the first night of Passover. We're not Jewish, but our DD's roommate is, and she's too far from home to go back for Passover. I took a crash course and have invited some friends for dinner, one of whom is Jewish and is making the chicken mazaball soup (yum.) Dinner is brisket w/ potatoes and carrots, broccoli and for dessert a flourless chocolate torte.

Here's the table:

Your table looks very pretty. Do you have a close-up of the china? That blue rim looks like it has lots of lovely detail. How kind of you to do the "crash course" so that your DD's roommate can take part in her traditions!

Bonnieann, I tried to see your table yesterday, but for some reason I was only getting a small red x and couldn't get it to open. Same thing happened with some other posts, so I just signed off and figured I'd try again later. It's showing up just fine today so don't know what that was about!

Your table looks really pretty. I know your DD's roommate will be very impressed and grateful to you for doing this for her. I love your china, and the tulips are such a wonderful Spring flower. So how was the flourless torte? That sounds interesting!

I'm susie from the Garden Junk forum. I love table scapeing too but I am still learning. Your choice of tulip color worked wonderfully with your soft blue china and glassware. So sweet of you to provide the Sedar for an aquaintence.

Hey, susie, I've got to get over to the garden forums. My indoor entertaining shifts to ourdoors or to the sunroom from this point on.

I've been buying up stuff for the garden this week. Here in New England it's too early for much, but I have pansies everywhere.

Thanks for your sweet comment about the tulips. They just happen to be my favorite spring flower.

See you at the Garden board!

Hi Susie, so glad you came over to see what goes on over here. Everyone agrees, with your creativeness, you fit right in. This is a good place to show off your "indoor" creations, and you can still do GJ for the "outdoor" ones!

Bonnieann, your table looks lovely. Your daughter and her roommate are lucky to have you. To be far from home at important holidays can be so very hard.

My china is in a different pattern, but similar colors as yours. Do you use yours for Thanksgiving? If so, do you try to do up the table in any sort of Thanksgiving way, or do you do it up with a similar elegance that you did for this? Thanksgiving is always my quandry.

duckie- (newbe susie here)- Find a can of blue spray paint the same color, if not, then have a color specially mixed to match your china. Paint leaf shapes the blue color and hang them from your chandi with fishing line. Also lay them around on your table. Pumpkins can also be painted the same blue for the buffet. Get a Thanksgiving stamper to stamp 'blue' on the napkins You can trim it out with silver accents if you also have a platinum band on your china pattern. Eyes will pop at your 'break the traditional color rules' savvy.

Hi Duckie, susie has given you some good suggestions for decorating a Thanksgiving table using the blue china.

I use Royal Worcester Eveham for Thanksgiving. It belonged to my late mother and has very special meaning for me and my family:
