I tuck them in on the top or bottom in the corners or around the sides, wherever there is room. I don't necessarily make a row of them.

Some bowls will stand on edge between tines.
We put them mainly in the bottom.
Rows don't work well.

I put mine in every other row - they fit fine that way, as do our pasta bowls. They will fit in rows, but don't get clean as well. You have to sort of angle the bowl as you put it in, then it falls nicely into place (definitely suggest you take a bowl to the showroom to test)

I have deeper bowls and put them across the back two rows and sometimes on top -- or even int he front of the lower rack is we use a lot of bowls and not a lot of plates. I can usually get 6-8 on the lower rack in a load with a lot of plates and a few more in a load without. If I get small spaces below, I may tuc ka couple of glasses in there and put more bowls above too. Even most plastic. With the covered element, I can put just about anything that doesn't fall through the rack on the bottom.

And don't forget, with the Bosch, you can put plastics on the bottom rack - no such thing as "top rack only" - if it helps.

In my unit, the lower rack has a row of very closely spaced tines which I use to house the plates, and a row of more sparsely spaced tines which is where I put in the salad or pasta bowls. I put my plates and flat lids etc. amongst the closely spaced tines and the bowls etc. in either the upper deck or amongst the sparser tines. In as far as my load is somewhat hybrid, I do make rows - rows of however many plates I have, rows of bowls, etc. I don't have to stagger things and it all comes out clean and dry.
