Sirius range hood - anyone have them?

I'm narrowing down, and one option is the built in Sirius hood SU902. I can't find any reviews etc on-line. Does anyone here have one, or can comment?

Sweeby on the kitchen forum has recommended them...

I don't know if you're still looking, but I just installed a Sirius 1200CFM 901 vent hood insert, and it's THE BOMB. Love love love it. It replaces a malfunctioning Futuro I had originally installed.

The Sirius is tough, heavy-duty, gorgeous to look at, has dishwashable stainless baffles instead of the hard-to-clean mesh, and above all is very very quiet. And strong enough to lift small kittens off the floor. ;-)

I like the position of the lights towards the front, so that the cooktop/range is well lit and any irregularities in the tile backsplash are minimized.

The only caveat would be the position of the operating controls, which are to the far back right and slightly difficult to see unless you stick your head up in there. I assume this problem will go away as I learn them by heart and no longer need to look at them when I press.

All in all a very solid, well-crafted and easy to install vent insert. We love it! Can warmly recommend.

@Circus Peanut, I know this is an older thread but I’m wondering if you are still using the Sirius vent hood and if you still like it as much as you did a decade ago? We are considering a 1,100 CFM Sirius and are worried about it being too loud..? Thanks.

KH, we are in the same bought. Considering an 1100 CFM Sirius and am worried about the noise. Have any experience with that yet?

We didn’t end up getting the Sirius due to the lack of reviews online about the noise.
We got the Zephyr Tempest II and couldn’t be happier with our decision. 1200 CFM with double blower and very quite. Amazing performance.

I would stay away from this brand. We had a Sirius Undermount range hood installed in 2020 and electronic panel had to be replaced in 2022, and now having the same issue. Next to impossible to find a repair person who has ever heard of this brand. Also, I don't think it has ever done a good job of sucking up smoke. Nothing to compare it to in terms of loudness but it seems kind of loud to me.

Bought an SLT900 in '04 because at the time it was the only island cartridge that fit in our low ceiling. I was initially skeptical about the reliability of the rf remote control, but it has been flawless now for 20 years. I have never turned it above the lowest speed because that is more than adequate at 30" above an island cooktop. It is not obnoxiously loud. I recently discovered that my Big Chief smoker just fits under it and so can be used indoors as the hood sucks up all the smoke.

The grease trap is a pita to clean, but it's only a biannual job if you do lots of greasy cooking. The halogen light fixtures are too small for LED

replacements, but I assume more recent models come with LEDs
