Need tablescape ideas...

Plan to decorate a table at one of our conventions. I would like to keep it "southern" with a silver tea set and mix matched china tea cups. The teapot would be used to hold flowers (any idea what kind? roses, hydrangea, tulips?) and will be the centerpiece of the table. The teaset is old so I may paint it with roses. The centerpiece is given to one person at the table - whoever draws the number). I thought of putting flowers in each cup or perhaps fill them with tea and sugar cubes (the teacups will be favors for the guests to take home). I plan to purchase white glazed 8" figures and paint pink roses on the bottom of the dress as a decoration and favor also. The overall color would be shades of pink.

The table will be 70" round and the hotel will furnish the china and linens. I would like to add something more to the centerpiece and maybe fabric on the table and something on the back of the chairs.

Yall do such a wonderful job with the tablescapes and I need your suggestions. This event takes place the first of June and I need to start looking for fabric, etc.

This sounds like fun, Bebe...I love your ideas..
I think Tulips are over in June, roses would be lovely, or hydrangea or a mix with some gypsophilia (baby's breath) for an airy look.
You could do a placemat on top of the cloth, or maybe little May baskets or mussie tussies hanging from the back of each chair. You could do pretty napkin rings too..
I like the teas and sugars idea too. In fact a friend asked me to keep an eye out for china cups to do the same for a bridal shower she is having. I was thinking yard sales, do you have a good source??

I don't know if you saw this pic..it is from a luncheon I gave for my friend last year..a garden theme with the picket fence plant holders...The plants were take homes as well as a wrapped pack of garden note cards. The pink tablecloth is actually a piece of fabric,over
60 in wide from Walmart for $1 a yd!

The first table I did in 2006 for a fundraiser. the centerpeice is in the covered soup dish and two small bowls it is pink roses.

Kathleen, I remember your pink table, I loved it because of the pretty picket fence planters and of course, the pink.
