Black and White Transferware

Hi All,

Today is my first free day, after leaving a full-time job in the city that sucked the life-blood out of me, and left no time for playing with my dishes and gardening. Today, I went to the library got some good books, ran through Marshalls and bought some goodies (see below), AND went to the garden center for some plants. Phew! What a whirlwind of a day!

I really am thrilled with the Royal Stafford black and white transferware. The dinner plates were marked down to $3 each (I bought four) and the salad plates were $2! I had the table runner, the battenberg lace placemats and the linen napkins. The flowers are from Mother's Day.

I really like the black and white transferware and it looks great with your runner. It's nice that you could leave your "life sucking" job, it's bound to make you a happier person. I'll be watching for more tablescapes now that you are a lady of leisure.

Thanks Frou! I'll be a lady of leisure for a few weeks, but do have another full-time job lined up after my hubby and I return from a Mediterranean Cruise in June. I love to entertain, cook, garden, read and all those things have taken a back seat to a very demanding job.

Hopefully, my new job won't be quite as demanding. The commute will be MUCH shorter, leaving more time for the hobbies that bring me joy!

Sorry, but I think this thread posted twice. See how rusty I have gotten :)

Yaay for you!!! It would be nice to be off for a few months, but I really love my job so I guess I won't complain :^)
I love your black and white transferware. I was looking at some brown and white the other day....maybe I need a couple of place settings.
Thanks for posting and we'll be looking for more pictures from you!

Very pretty tablesetting, Bonnie. And glad you found the transferware on sale. Congratulations on getting away from that job, sounds like you've earned a good vacation and are finally getting it. Its really great the next job won't be so far to commute, that will sure make a big difference. ;o)

Like JayB said, we'll be looking forward to your photos now you have some time to play here.

    hugs, Karen

First off, congrats on being able to get away from that job! Life's too short to devote to something you dislike. Transferware is always a great find. I really like the shape of your salt/peppers too, and your dining set is very pretty. You have a wonderful vacation lined up, enjoy every minute. Luvs

Pretty new dishes, Bonnie! I saw those last week at our local Marshalls. I'll bet they'll look stunning around Christmas or New Years with silver and/or Mercury glass, too.
Congrats on your new job and the time off in between jobs to relax and enjoy.

Beautiful dishes and your table looks gorgeous.

Could you tell me more about your table runner? I'm looking for one and that runner would be perfect for my table.

    Thanks,
    Mona

    Thanks so much everyone!

Mona, the table runner is from a local antique shop. It has tabs in the back so can be (and has been!) used as a valance. It's quilted on one side and has stripes on the other.

The tag reads "Lasting Impressions by Victoria Hearts". I can make a run by the shop and see if they still carry the line.

Bonnie, so happy for you with the price of your new dishes, vacation and job change. Those dishes are some I really like and look great with the battenberg lace placemats and table runner.

Hope you will have more time to come here and share with us.

Bonnie, thanks for the offer. Before you go through the trouble can you tell me some more about it? Size? Colors? Design? Cost?

Also, if you have a close up picture of the runner, that would be great. it's just perfect on your table. I hope it would look that nice on mine.

    Hi Mona,
If you click on the picture, it will take you to a close-up shot. As I remember, it was under $20. Also if you do a Google search, you'll find the line (Lasting Impressions by Victoria Heart) IS available online. Not sure about this particular pattern because I bought it a few year ago. Let me know if you want more info or if you want me to go by the shop and check out their current stock.

Bonnie, thank you but I'm going to pass. The more I think about it I'm going to look for one with more colors. It really is perfect for your dishes, table and room...not so sure in mine.
