Independence Day tables

Hi All, I had bought a few things to do a table for the 4th of July, but discovered that we will not be home for the holiday.

I thought I'd go ahead and do one so I could share it with all of you. Hope you enjoy seeing it, and I will be looking forward to seeing the ones all of you post as well.

That is so pretty Luvs! You really did the red, white and blue up right. I like the centerpiece, is it a lantern of some sort? Hopefully, you can eat a meal there some other time than on the 4th...it looks like a setting where you'd want to sit and relax awhile.

Luvs, that is really a cute table setting. You are doing so good at these!
So where are you headed for the holiday and how long will you be away?

    hugs, Karen

Hey Karem go look on my post so you can see the pretty plates you sent me? Are you avoiding me??(:

Luvs, that table is delightful! Have you been collecting all year? I don't remember seeing those pretty blue glasses and round placemats. I love the lantern. The whole table is an explosion of fun!
Thanks for taking the time to share.

Hi Luvs~ beautiful tablescape. I love the red and white dishes with the round blue mat and the star napkin holder. Very creative. Love the wooden pieces in the background as well. It all makes a very nice setting. Too bad you won't be home to use it. =) ~Anj

Thanks ladies, I didn't want to miss out on getting to use my "goodies"this year, it's a long time until next year! LOL

Kathleen, I got the placemats at Marshall's for $1.00 each. I think I posted about them but didn't show pics. And you probably remember that the red plates with the stars came from their clearance section. The glasses were a recent TS find for $1.99 each, and I just love the shape of them. Got the paper lantern at Dollar Tree, it has a battery powered light in it. The little hanging stars and the ones on the napkins and table as well as the "shooting stars" are from Dollar Tree also. Nothing fancy, but it was fun to do.

We are leaving for Denver, Colo. on the morning of the 3rd. DH has his last regional meeting there on the 7th. Then we are heading over to Idaho to check out the Boise area. Our DS thinks he might like to sell his home and move there someday in the not too distant future. He figures we could just sell our house and come there too, so we thought we'd go check out the area. I'm sure it's a beautiful area--just not sure about dealing with the snow and cold in my "old age". LOL We are also going on to Seattle then down through Oregon and then home here in So. Calif. Figure we'll travel around for three or four weeks--now that DH doesn't have to go back to work, we can just take our time! Yahoo!

P.S. We will have internet connection, but maybe not as fast as I am used to--but I will be checking in here before I go to bed each night.

Wow, long trip planned. I imagine Idaho is lovely this time of year. Tho wouldn't want to live there in winter, LOL.
Kathleen, not ignoring you, LOL. I saw you posted about the little green plates. I'm so glad you are using them, that's much better than them being wasted in a cabinet in the garage. I'm letting myself get a bit bummed with the back issues the last two weeks. Trying to post but mostly feeling so useless and frustrated. I don't like being a veggie. Feel like a big ol' blumpy brown potato. LOL.

    hugs, K

Karen, a big old brown potato...think of all the yummy things you could do with that!
Feel better, girl, do a table!!

Luvs, sounds interesting. I know you must be feeling apprehensive about ds moving...we are 90 min from ours and it is hard to see them more than once a month.
I know how you adore your gd coming over.
Maybe it will be later rather than sooner. Housing market, and all others ): so bad right now.
Have a good trip seeing all the wonderful sights!

Very nice decorations! I love the lantern! So cute!

My computer has just been repaired this morning and guess what... the first site I opened is... yeah! This forum!

While without computer for more than one week, I've been thinking of you all as I've watched "Saving Private Ryan" twice last week and have also been thinking of publishing something on July 4th to say thank you for what Americans and other allies did for us 60 years ago.

What a great table! You are so lucky to be able to travel now without having "time limits". You are going to have such fun, everyone I know that has retired has said it was the best thing they have done. Hmm more time for you to do tablesettings for all of us to enjoy!

    Have a good weekend!

Prosperity, good to see you posting again! ;o) How is your back now? All better I hope. Nice to have you back with us. Thanks for your comments about the U.S. soldiers.

Kathleen, you are so right. I only have the one son, and have never not had him and his family close by. I'm used to seeing them at least once a week, sometimes more. Hate the idea of leaving my home and friends here though, so we will just have to see how it all works out.

Karen, So sorry your pain has flared up and is making it hard for you to enjoy doing anything. Hope it feels better soon.

Judith, we can hardly believe we're finally free after all those years of the daily work grind! Now we can do some fun things and just slow down and enjoy things more. He plans to hit the golf course more, and I have a whole list of "honey do's" waiting for him. ;o) LOL

Jaybird,he is on five weeks paid vacation right now, his official retirement date is Aug. 1st. He is telling me "no party". He's never liked/wanted parties, but it sure seems like we need to celebrate this occasion. There is a big party for all the retirees, so maybe we will just have a family celebration dinner and then go to that big party. He will get lots of recognition/congratulations at the regional meeting we are going to--and there have already been lots of phone calls now that the word is spreading that he is retiring. ;o)
Goodness, I'm getting windy here. Better go read the other posts! LOL

Prosp, that is so sweet of you to honor the Troops. Thank you for caring so much.
Like Luvs, I've been wondering about your back/neck....are you going to need surgery next month? I hope the pain hasn't been as bad. Glad your computer fixed again, I would go crazy a week without mine. LOL. Or I should say,
    crazy-er!

    hugs, Karen

    Hi girls,
My back and my neck, same situation.
Today it's the last day at work, I'll be on holiday tomorrow for two months so, I'll go to see the doctor.
Hard to be without a computer... I had so many articles to write, but all drafts were in the broken computer!
