Best Window Cleaner yet!

Has anyone heard of a product called RAM? It is from a company called RAM Enterprises in Elberta AL. My cleaning lady just got some and today is the first day we tried it.

We used it on the windows and they sparkle like crazy and no streaks whatsoever. She has used it for stains and it even removes stains from permanent markers. Great for kids stuff! The bottle says you can use it for practically anthing and it is non toxic.

I'm always on the look-out for miracle products. Thanks. I'll look into it. First I've heard of this one.

Sounds interesting. Where did your cleaning lady get it and what did she pay? I googled it and found the website. If you order one quart it costs $40 and, at the standard dilution, makes about 15 quarts of solution. If you buy more at a time, the price/qt goes down: $30/qt for two, $20/qt for four. Guess we need to get a few friends to go in together and order four.

Give us an update if you continue to use it.

Here is a link that might be useful: RAM cleaner

    Catbird

Someone actually gave her a quart to try. Your right I came up with same results on Google. I called the company and they said they have been in business for thirty years. It is also non-toxic product. I will use the amount I have and then see if I will be looking for some friends.

I just use amonia and a scotchbrite pad, cleans Fast! - hose it off, let them dry, then buff it with a very slighly damp miracle cloth towel. Gives the tinted windows that new car shine mirror look. Until it rains and water spots.

I bought some from a door to door guy once...then we moved and I lost the contact info and couldn't remember the name of the product. It really was an excellent product...I'll have to look into ordering some. Thanks for the link!

My personal favorite is made by the Imus Foundation, it's called Greening the Cleaning Glass and Window Cleaner. It's all natural and works better than Windex ever has, for me anyway! You can order it online but I usually get it at Linen's & Things. Sometimes it goes on sale for $3.99 a bottle and I stock up.

Best window cleaner in my book is white vinegar. Spritz it on and wipe off with newspaper. Better than windex and products like windex. No streaks, no lint...and cheap. Just make sure you wear rubber gloves so your hands don't turn black from the newsprint.

I tried using newspaper once, and my hands got filthy from the print. How do you do it with newspaper and not make a mess?

The Ram product sounds interesting what is the smell or scent it has....how strong etc....

    Sheila, Rubber gloves.

There are a lot of really, really good cleaners that are not sold in the grocery stores and sold only to commercial businesses. I don't know why that is. Someone could make a killing selling the good stuff.

The Ram has no odor whatsoever. I tried it on my glass stove top and works great. No smearing or haze. I don't like using the cream that it recommended but still have to use it for heavy spills. Still this product is expensive!

The best window cleaner, least toxic, cheapest, and environmentally safe one that I've used is a bucket of water with a tablespoon, or two, of cornstarch in it, a quality squeegee/sponge combatiation, and a dry microfiber towel - which can be laundered and used over and over, instead of messy paper towels or newspapers. I found the helpful hint on this board and have used it ever since.

I can't see paying for high-priced packaging, advertisement, and potentially dangerous chemicals, which includes most MUST HAVE cleaning products, when there are alternatives that work just as well.

The high-priced "green" cleaning products are usually nothing more than a combination of common household products you find in most kitchens - like soda or vinegar. Maybe "grandma" knew what she was doing after all?

Recycle an old spritz bottle and make your own non-toxic cleaners. Help keep your family and pets away from the dangerous chemicals found in most commercial cleaning supplies.

Yep, ditto Grainlady, natural is best I have found too. We just renovated our entire house and everything is covered in drywall and lath and plaster dust. I cleaned from top to bottom with about 50 microfiber cloths (washed over and over!!) and my new favourite, half and half water and vinegar solution!! So cheap, and I feel amazing that I didn't use one single chemical, and it costs nothing... amazing, who knew, vinegar...

I use a recipe that I found on the internet, it works great, especially with a microfiber cloth and a squeegee:
    1 gallon hot water
    1 cup vinegar
    1/2 cup ammonia
    1 Tablespoon corn starch
