cooktops - replacing gas with induction

We just purchased a new home and are already planning our kitchen remodel. Currently the home has a 30" Whirlpool gas cooktop over a whirlpool electric wall oven. (both about 15 years old)

I want to replace the gas cooktop with the 30" Electrolux Induction and replace the electric wall oven with the Electrolux wall oven. I was assured by Electrolux that the two can be used together (no such assurances from KitchenAid or Jenn Air)

Has any one replaced a gas cooktop with induction? do you forsee any issues other than getting an additional circuit put in?

thanks in advance for any advice. and i know many think would be crazy to replace gas with induction, but we like it!

There really shouldn't be anything special required aside from the circuit. Of course, if you're reusing the counter, you might have to adjust the cutout.

I have the Electrolux Icon Induction Cooktop. As I recall it does require 4.5 inches below it, not for venting but because it is that deep. Wasn't really a problem for me as I had a lazy Susan below the cooktop and I just adjusted the shelf down a little. You can download the install manuals which could be a big help. I also have the Icon Convection Wall oven, as well as the Icon Speed oven and also their wine chiller. All have been trouble free since they were installed (November of 2006)

I believe the OP is planning to install a wall oven under her cooktop.

newhome, if Electrolux says it's a go, then you should have no problem. Only other issue I can think of is making sure you have induction capable cookware. It was a real treat for me to get rid of all my old, junky cookware and buy all new. =)

Enjoy!
