I found something neat

Do all of you have some of these?

Look at the latest one I found--love the cover pic, and there are more similar ones inside.

All of these have been TS or YS finds at really cheap prices. Even though they are a bit dated, I always find a few good ideas and sometimes even some pretty table scapes. This one had some nice Victorian looking ornaments and gift wrapping ideas.

Just a little reminder that Christmas is only five months away! LOL

Luvs - I know I have two pictured - possibly a third. I bought them new when they first came out, actually it was an annual auto-ship deal.

They also had/have? a series of decorating books out too.

I agree they are a bit dated and the reason I stopped buying them is they were a lttle too country for me as well... which was a dominant theme in the books from the late 80's early 90's
If you can get them for a good price they're worth buying and are full of crafts & instructional patterns and good basic ideas.

I highly recommend the Southern Living annual Christmas books too - they're a little more timeless/classic.

Jim, I know what you mean, I pass up allot of them that are too country also. I always check though just to see if there are any Country Victorian ideas since I still love that style.

Sure wish I could find more with the darling illustrations that this last one has--I really love it! I'm thinking it would even be good to just lay on a table or place on a stand as a Christmas decoration.

You are right Jaybird, I probably would never pay the original price for them, but at less than $2 they are cheap entertainment. I'm looking for them more now since the magazines I've always enjoyed are getting so darn expensive to buy and many are filled mostly with advertizements at that!

Well, I am a little bit country, and a little bit rock and roll...so I would probably like them....not rustic stuff though..

My DH got some at a GW a couple of years ago for me. My dear grandson whom I was babysitting everyday was 2 years old at the time and feeding the birds was an everyday thing. He absolutely LOVED the blackcapped chickadees.
In one of those books there were pictures and detailed instructions on crossstiching a set of 4 birds. A cardinal, blackcapped chickadee, bluebird, and goldfinch.
I had never crossstiched in my life, but my DSIL showed me how to get started and I crossstiched him the chickadee. I started on the cardinal and got bored . Maybe I will take it to the hospital when DH goes back for the operation and try to finish it.
This past year we hit the mother lode and came home from the GW with 2 huge stacks of those types of books (most of mine are Christmas related I think). Probably about 20 or so of them. I enjoy all of the recipes in them also.
You can sit down and spend a couple of hours easily just looking through them. The price was sure right!

I love looking at Christmas decor pictures old and new. What a great find at a great price!

Betty, that must be a special memory for you about using the cross-stiching patterns in those books to do a chickadee for your grandson. Maybe finishing the cardinal one will take your mind off matters when DH is in the hospital.
