Marsh vs. Integrity vs. Bishop

We are looking at these 3 cabinet companies for cabinets in our custom home being built in NC. Most of them will be painted wood (white), with thermofoil in the mudroom and laundry room. Can anyone recommend one above the others, or know of any differences between them?

Many thanks!

I have Marsh cherry woodline cabinets in kitchen, baths and utility room and have found no fault with them. I think mine are the mid-grade because the drawers have rabbited sides but the top line of Marsh has dovetail drawer sides. I live in Carolina too and like the idea that these are made in Highpoint,NC

Thanks, Bigdee. How many years have you had them? We've heard better things about the other two, but the doors we've seen in Marsh appeared to be prettier finishes for the wood stain colors (sienna and cordovan). Most of them will be painted white, though.

We had Jim Bishop cabinets in our previous house that we built in 2000. We had a lot of issues with the finish flaking off. These were Maple stained cabinets. There were other issues that I don't recall but I do remember needing to write a nine page letter to them in order to get their attention. The finish issues continued to be a problem for us until we sold the house in 2005.

Those cabinets were built eleven years ago so I can only assume that the finish issues have been dealt with. My customer service issues may have been more the cabinet shop in Annapolis than Jim Bishop so take this as only one data point which is potentially quite stale.

We have had our Marsh cabinets for 7 years now. The doors and frames are solid cherry however the shelves and sides are laminated MDF. Since the sides are MDF the finish is simulated of course and probably not as durable as solid wood. In my case most of the sides are not visible but hid by walls, dishwasher, refrigerator, etc. On one side that is exposed my grandson put some adhesive stickers on it and when I peeled off the sticker some of the woodgrain finish came off too. I trip to Lowes to get a touch-up marking pen fixed the problem. Although the rabbit joints have not been an issue I prefer the dovetail joints. Overall the cabinets are gorgeous and receive many compliments.

Thanks, Bigdee and Klabio - I've apparently goofed up my earlier reply because it disappeared, and am now replying again. Even though we've heard Bishop is better, it may be that the retail stores have a reason to recommend them over other brands, but not necessarily due to higher quality.
