Fall Decor 2008/ Outside entryway

OK. Here's my first pic on this forum. I just love this time of year.

Anyway, I want to start posting. If any of you gals see ways I can boost the look with a little something added, please add your two cents. I like to put a lot of seasonal stuff all around the house and yard, but am more hesitant about placing a lot of things in one single area. My decorations are, well I guess, sparser then most I see here. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You all seem so kind, so I won't be unhappy.

I'm going to decorate my hutch now that I saw sheesharee's post. Only did that at Christmas before. But now I'm going with fall - and Halloween swags when the time comes.

And I like the tipsy pots that are repainted for every holiday. Never thought of that!

This is a great place.

Very nice. Did you make the scene on the pumpkin or buy it like that?

Denise, that vignette is great, it has enough elements there to be pretty and interesting. You could add in more IF you wanted, but really, it is quite nice as is with the amount of things you have right now.

The only improvement I could suggest (and this is just because how I happen to like things, it is not a "rule")
Anyway, for the silk flowers in the pot, I am guessing that most of them are wired and can be "bent". I would suggest that you bend some of the branches downwards drooping over the rim of the metal holder, this softens metal bucket in the floral design a bit, and it helps to "connect" the arrangement with the wreath that is wrapping below the metal holder. Gosh I hope that makes sense.

    Judith,

Yes, yes! I went out and did it right away. . . and it looks so much nicer. Now that I look at the picture I posted, they look so "jammed in" and stiff. That made it look a lot more natural even though they're obviously fake. It gave the whole scene a softer, more inviting look.
See, I knew I learn something.

    DD,
The pumpkin was given to me a couple of years ago by one of my closest friends. It's one of those foamy, plastic ones and came with the design.

The raffia looks really nice with the leaves mixed in--that was a good idea. I'm glad you softened/loosened the flowers a bit, that will make it just perfect. I really like the carved pumpkin too. Good job, and we are really happy to have you joining in here on the forum. Luvs

Denise, it is wonderful you are posting pics for us - we love them! I think your display is lovely, so colourful and pretty. I can picture it with Judith's suggestion (she is so good at this!) and I'll bet that did add that "touch" to make it perfect.

Denise, I agree with all the posts. You set up a wonderful vignette and I'm so glad you shared it with us. I'd like to put it in our Inspiration Album. Do you want to take another photo since you changed it a bit?

    hugs, Karen

    Hello and welcome, Denise!
Your fall decor is lovely! May I add it on a page of Thanksgiving site (if allowed by photobucket too)?

I'm sure guests and even the mailman appreciate that. :)

Hey! I'm thrilled to be on the Inspiration Album and Thanksgiving site. Wait till I tell my friend who gave me the pumpkin.

Thank you, everyone. I feel so important today.

Very nice, I love how you "poofed" out the flowers, they look great. And you are IMPORTANT! YEAH!

Whoa....what a difference in the floral arrangement!! It really looks super now! I'm heading off to add it to our album!
And Judith is right, you are important. Keep those pictures coming, please.

By the way, I don't repaint my Tipsy Pots for the Holidays.
Just change the decor in them. I painted them hunter green and sponged some white on the rims, and that seems to work well with any season and Holiday florals I use. I'm too lazy to repaint them, LOL.

Very nice, your 2nd photo shows how the metal container is "softened" & by flowers going lower it 'ties" everything together. Great Job! Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new here but everyone is so warm & friendly!! Great ideas here too! Thanks for sharing!! Jan
