Falling into FALL

I am not fully decorated for Fall...just bringing out things little by little.

I won't put out the Halloween for another week or so...

Here's my front door...

The acorn bells were a gift from my friend from Holidays , Kay..:) We have shared many Holiday seasons over the years!!

{{gwi:1437497}}

This lantern is from WSonoma Outlet...last year..

She will greet you as you come through the foyer..she can hold some treats in her apron...

I will have to catch up with the rest of you who are fully decorated...I am still trying to find all the Fall bins in the basement!!

Tonight's table.."Leaf" me alone... :)

Some pieces are new..the glasses are, you have seen some of the other things, but I mixed it around from last year..

The tablecloth is from Portugal..a gift from my sister about 35 years ago..It came with solid napkins in 3 colors..I have them..one is mangled..someone left it too close to the candle at a dinner party...:(

I used brown round mats, burnt orange plate, ($ Tree)

That amber bubble glass pitcher I got in the Pfaltzgraff clearance center 2 yrs ago...it was marked 24.99, but I got it for .96 cents!!

I bought 4 and gave them away...

The leaf plate and butter spreader is from Pfaltzgraff outlet...

The fall colored napkins have leaves on them, and I wired faux squash and leaves to a napkin ring..

The orange leaf is Chantal..clearance at Home Goods..2.00

I filled a hurricane with mini faux pumpkins, orange candle and surrounded it with a leaf garland..added more faux squash and acorns..

The little acorn covered bowls are also from the Pfaltzgraf clearance

The amber wine glasses are from Villeroy and Boch..

I cut the butter with an acorn cookie cutter, and made the biscuits in a pumpkin mold.

Dinner was pork cutlets, pounded dipped in milk, then panko and fired..

Parmesan potatoes and glazed carrots...apples simmered in apricot brandy for the top of the cutlet..

For dessert I made a little pumpkin pie...used Bakerella's recipe...

I painted the acorn cut outs with chocolate..

My Goodness Kathleen..you are a total 'Wonder Woman'!!
Between the Decorations to the Tablescape, to the Amazing Menu!! I'm tired for You...lol
First off, your front entry is adorable. Love the two Scarecrows who greet you at the Door. Very cute idea. That entry hall Witch, with her Apron & All, is a hoot. Your Table is set with the most lovely Autumn Colors. I have to laugh, even your food has Autumn Colors. The presentation of this table, with the rich colors of the dinner plates, Acorn bowls, leaf dishes and the Amber Glasses is just so warm and inviting. I would totally enjoy being a guest at this table.
I can't get over all that food you prepared. You are just too much..... Martha Stweart...move over! lol

As always, the food looks scrumtious, and the presentation is fabulous. Those biscuits are the cutest things.I love your centerpiece. .

Can't believe you found those plates at Dollar Tree. No Dollar Tree in our vicinity had them. I passed up some plates at HG in CT last spring, and I've been searching for something like them every since. I couldn't find them, but a couple of weeks ago, I found some inexpensive ones at World Market.

I got so excited about the food, I nearly forgot, your outdoor decorations are great. What a wonderful porch you have.

    Thanks, Jane and NC!
NC I got those plates last year...I didn't see them this year..I wanted a few more..

As for Dollar Stores.. I HAD never been in one till I started coming to this forum a few years ago. It is the Many Dollar Tree!!
We don't have World Markets here..I have heard about them!

Jane, you are so good to go to my blog and comment and then here too..You don't have to..once is enough..I do appreciate it!! You are a sweetheart!

Wow! I totally agree with Jane--Martha Stewart, move over! What a great idea to use the two scarecrows on each side of the door, bet everyone who drives by loves looking at your porch! Love the pots of mums on the steps too--you have such a green thumb!

Speaking of acorns, I love your acorn bowls. I think seeing them and the other neat acorn stuff on this forum last year is what got me "obsessed" with acorns too--now I notice them everywhere! LOL

Love the little butter knives and the fact that you made so many things acorn and pumpkin shaped. Looks so cute.

Your table and all the decorations are just so warm and inviting--I don't want to be a dinner guest, I wanna come LIVE at your house and enjoy all your great food and pretty decorations all the time!

What a wonderful Autumny front porch you have, Kathleen! Love the mums on the steps and those darling scarecrows especially. I've never seen them used like that, but it looks so cute! Your Fall tablescape ~ and food~ look great . . . as usual! Yumm!

    What can I say?

I know..... What kind of vitamins do you take? I need some! Seriously.

Every little thing is lovely, both inside and out.

My favorite is the pumpkin shaped pumpkin pie. You ALWAYS add the touches that send it over the top. I love the acorn butter pats.

If only you knew how I love to see a post with your name on it because I KNOW it's going to be special.

I've never heard of simmering apples in brandy to top pork. Mmmmm... I have apples, but no brandy :(

I second what Jane says - I am getting tired just reading about all the things you do! Your table is just lovely - so many details in there and everything co-ordinates so beautifully. You are a real wonder-woman!! Pumpkin shaped biscuits, acorn butter - seriously!! The acorns in your dessert painted with chocolate are the best.

Your outside fall decor is beautiful too - love the scarecrows and the witch!

Thank you, ladies, and believe me I am no wonder woman. In fact, I WONDER why I don't get more done...
I am still missing a FALL bin in the basement.. I know it's there, I know what's in it..but WHERE is it???..
This will be a winter long project getting it all organized.
The painter starts Monday on the finished part..can't wait to start getting it all set up..just in time for the Holidays..
Another area to decorate..have to think about that!

Anyway, all your kind comments are very much appreciated, and validates my reasons for keeping all this cwap! :)
In my mind, anyway..dh??not so much!

Wow, can I relate to that! Where's the box with the _______________ in it??? I SHOULD be right here.

As soon as all the construction is done I'm going to use all the new storage space to organize, organize, organize. And I've promised myself that I'll throw out as I go and I'm not allowing myself to purchase ONE SINGLE DECORATION until I'm all back together and there's not one speck of drywall dust anywhere.

As usual, your table and dinner look wonderful. I've always liked how you seem to coordinate the food with the tablesetting. It all goes together. Once again, you've done such a great job.

I love all the details to your table and your food. Just beautiful! Where did you find a pie plate shaped like a pumpkin? My sis would love that. I'm now on the lookout for some leaf dishes!
The witch is so cute. My boys would love her! Your front door looks great. I really like the acorn bells and the lantern.

OA, I have made the same promise..
Maybe we should join Decorations Anon to get some support!
I am still cleaning the sheetrock dust downstairs, it is everywhere. So when the painter leaves next week..I will be very busy, purging and cleaning!

Cindy, you can get those dishes in TJMAXX, Marshalls or Home Goods. They are made by Chantal.
I also got some in Christmas Tree Shop that were very similar..
They have a few different sizes..
This is a bigger one, good for casseroles..

This is Ghost Pie..:) It is Cottage Pie, but when I piped on the potaotes, I pulled up on the pastry bag, and it looked like little ghosts!

    Kathleen,
Do you use ground beef in your Cottage Pie or cook it first and use shredded beef? It looks so darn good.

I use ground beef, and I used to call it Shepherd's Pie till a read a thread on Cooks.com...Apparently, you can only call it Shepherd's if you use lamb, and this guy also called out the Americans for using cheese..GUILTY!! LOL

That casserole looks yummy! The pumpkin shaped dish makes it look even more special--love it! Hey, that guy should try using cheese, bet he'd never want it without after that. Luvs

Kathleen, I don't think I made it around to comment on your TT post so am glad you posted here too! This is just fantastic! From the decorations, to the tablescape to the food, it is so professionally and expertly done! I agree with the others, where do you get the energy? On your blog in your "about me" part, you talk about how wonderful retirement is because you get to do all the things you never had time for when you worked....you give me hope that is how it will be for me too! Even with the kids raised and out of the house, I just don't have the time I wish I had for entertaining, decorating, blogging, etc.

I love your story about the "mangled napkin" as something very similar happened to one of my Christmas napkins. My Dad put it too close to a candle by his place setting and it caught on fire. It was scary and tense for a bit with all of us wondering if the whole table was going to go up in flames but luckily, my brother lept into action and calmly took the flaming napkin to the sink. I'm glad my Dad didn't take it...knowing him, the drapes would have been on fire too! Now it is a funny story that we never let my Dad forget!

    Kathleen,
I agree with all the above posts. You are so talented and I'd like your ghost pie recipe if you'd like to share. We love cheese and yes we know the cheese in the USA is not good for us. I think it's in Europe that they have the kind one should eat.LOL I've never had it and my DB was just telling me a couple of weeks ago how much he likes it.

Kathleen, once again, I'm amazed by the job you did. Yes, you are for sure Wonder Woman!

So many pictures to look at, love those scarecrows by the way, they're so cute! And the acorn bells are so original - at least, never seen here in Europe!

As for the table, once again, it's splendid. The menu quite appealing but... would you mind to share the Ghost Pie recipe with me? I don't know what it is all about but it looks yummy.

From what I can see, I presume the cheese you used is... Cheddar? That orange color makes me think to it. I don't mind whether it's the cheese to use or not - I could try both with Cheddar, gruyer, Emmenthal, or any other cheese since we have hundreds of different ones here :)

    Thanks in advance.
    Dom.
