What are your thoughts on this room? Would love some advice on what a
Comments (17)Great natural light in a great room. Your tv is way to high for my neck; It needs to be put elsewhere -- perhaps beside the fireplace, perhaps in a corner cabinet -- then get a tall curio/stuff cabinet for the other side of the fireplace and put a really nice clock or some art that truly speaks to you above the fireplace.. You do need a rug to define your sitting area. The one you have looks good. If you put the large chairs (with a side table) in the far right corner of your room beyond your dining table next to the window, then you could get new chairs that may not have as deep a measurement (wing back chairs) and to create your sitting area more on the left side of the room than centered, especially since you dining table is on the right side of the room and turned the way it is. If you're going to center you seating area with the fire place, then you should at least try turning the dining table ninety degrees as you reconfigure your living area. Rather than moving furniture about and wondering if furnishings you're considering buying fit, invest in some graph paper and draw the room to scale, along with the location of the fireplace, windows doors. Then use card stock to cut out the size/shape of each piece and set them on your graph paper outline of your room. Consider swapping out your hanging lights, either the two above your peninsula or the one above your dining table because the three hanging lights in really close proximity, with one being similar yet different, looks a bit odd. You might consider a track lights or a single rectangle cut glass light for above the peninsula -- something totally different than the dining lights. Alternately, you might consider a rectangle cut glass light for above your dining table and repurpose that single light to your entry for a truly great first impression. If and when you opt to buy drapes, get the kind with tie backs or pulley system so they can be easily pulled aside -- (and use the doubles rods -- so you can continue to use sheers -- and use the rods that are longer than the windows are wide so that when the drapes are opened, they will hang left of and barely covering the left trim of the right window and right of and barely covering the right trim of the right window in order to keep all that natural light that makes this room great. Do avoid the sloppy fad of drapes dragging on the floor....See MoreNew Front Door.. What are your thoughts on it?
