Hi there! Introducing myself...

I've been lurking for a few weeks and finally got the courage to post! :) My husband and I just purchased our first home and I've had such fun decorating it for the fall. You guys have such amazing style and I've already learned a ton. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll share some of my holiday decor.

Angela, Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you decided to finally jump in. Your fall decorating pics are very nice. I really like them all, but love the fall arrangement on the lamp shade. And congrats on your new home.

Glad you joined in..it's so nice to meet new people and exchange decorating ideas..or for that matter Any ideas!! lol.. Did you spray paint those gold pumpkins? ..They're very striking, I like how they look. That's a nice idea with your lamp, gives it a nice festive look for the fall.

Hi there Angela, so nice of you to come out of lurkdom and join us! I really like your gold pumpkins on those gorgeous candleholders, very dramatic! Your lampshade arrangement and wreaths also look great. I really find decorating for the seasons, helps add life to a home and you are well on your way! Have fun!

Hi Angela! We're so glad you came out of lurkdom to join us. Your photos are very pretty...I can't decide if I like the pumpkins or the lamp the best. I'm wondering too if you spray painted the pumpkins. I don't think I've ever seen any like that before.

I have to admit I cheated and bought the pumpkins at Hobby Lobby! They have a really pretty finish to them- they look gold sometimes and a champagne color at other times.

Welcome, Angela - I just joined recently too, and these ladies are very warm and fun, not to mention talented! You'll love posting here...

I adore the acorn and bow on your lamp - it's subtle yet very "seasonal"...really nice. :-)

Wonderful! So glad the picture posting worked for you. Love that arrangement on your lamp. How is it attached? Can you change it easily? Very pretty decorations, we'd love to see more of your new home. Luvs

    Hi Angela and welcome :)

I'm Dominique, and live far away from Long Island, New York as well as Oklahoma... in Belgium, small rainy country in Europe.

My English is as bad as possible but I love this forum and its members and enjoy coming here as much as I can, looking for inspiration, at great pictures and sharing everything with these great ladies.

You guys are fantastic! Thanks for the warm welcome. To answer some of your questions-- the lampshade decor is just a floral pick/spray (not sure the proper term?) with a ribbon tied around the stem. The stem is bend-able so I just bent it and hung it on the top of the lampshade. The bow hides the stem and it just looks like part of the shade. I plan on making a different one for Christmas. :) I'm glad you guys like it!

here are a few more shots of my very first attempt at seasonal decorating. Please be gentle, I'm learning! :)

I need help editing the mantel, but I'm stuck...

    HI & Welcome Angela!

You have some really unique items, the rattan/wicker(can't think which it is) gourd, the metal pumpkin and you've taught us somehting new; decorating lampshades!

I love both of them, what a cute idea! I think you're well on your way, everything looks very nice!

Angela, I think you have done a wonderful job decorating for fall. I love what you've done. And I have to try you lamp decorating. That's a great idea.

You've done a great job with your decorating. I need someone like you to come decorate for me! Your home and decor looks really nice. Luvs

    Angela,
You have some cool fall decorating things. I love that metal pumpkin. And your lampshade decor (both of them, but esp the first one) is very nice - thats a great idea. I like all your fall decorations - subtle but still says fall. I like the topiaries you have on your mantle too - are they real?

    Mo,
The topiaries are faux. :) I made them a few months ago when we moved in the house. I purchased the clay pots, some spray paint, some craft paint, the topiary forms, and spanish moss. I just covered the forms with spanish moss, painted the pots and free-handed the fleur de lis design with some gold paint. dropped the forms into the pots, tied a ribbon on it and that was it! It took about an hour and cost about $20 all together. Glad you like them!

Welcome, Angela! I live in the mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. My DH was born and raised in Oklahoma and our son is in grad school at OU (DH's alma mater, too). I love that state! We'll be heading back there in just a few weeks again, to see DS and go to a Sooner game. I haven't been to Arkansas yet, but hear it's lovely. Looking forward to more of your posts!

Angela, thanks for the directions. I had this lovely real topiary somebody gave me that recently died. I think faux is the way to go, atleast for me. I have a very similar chair to the one you have near your mantle and I upholstered in a very similar fabric too! LOL

Angela, your mantel set up is very pretty. I also like that you used more subtle tones in white and brown which go well with your room. Although I like the oranges, burgundies and warmer colours of fall too, it was nice to see something different. Great job!
