some 'Holiday' prayers, please

Haven't been posting or doing anything the past week, online. I do try to quickly read Holidays and GJ every night however. Don't want to miss anything.

My Dad, who lives with us, had TWO bad falls last week. He still can't put full weight on his knee he twisted, and he's too frail to really try. I'm doing a lot of lifting to help him the past 10 days. But he's using a walker some, as well as the wheelchair my son got him. It hasn't been that hard on me with those, and the port-a-potty in his room we wisely got. Tho I still have to do everything for him pretty much, however the stress since a week ago Wed. had lightened considerably. Just my usual "Dad stress". Which is mostly due to his aortic aneurysm. He's had it for many years, and it's grown very slowly. If it reaches a "7", surgery would be required, but the chances of him surviving it are slim. (he's 83, with a bad heart and bad kidneys). And his doc told me if it burst, try to get him in car and to hospital fast....that I wouldn't have time to call 911, he'd be dead. Luckily the hospital is 2 MINUTES from me. So I try not to think about it bursting, unless he mentions 'back pain' and then I get pretty concerned.

(severe stabbing back pain is what the doc told me would mean it had burst.)

Well, several weeks ago, my DH came in from golf with a lot of hip pain and down his leg. We thought maybe he'd pinched a nerve, but our doc wanted x-rays and an ultrasound. Which showed nothing at all, and other tests they ran all came back with very good reports on his health. But the doc still wanted an MRI, to just make sure nothing else going on and it was a pinched nerve. Even tho Fred got over the problems a week or two ago.) The MRI show two problems, first is Fred's got serious arthritis in most ALL of his bones, and is being referred to a Specialist about that. Then the WORST news, he has an aortic aneurysm that is quite large!! Almost a 7. He has to have a cat scan Monday morning, then see a heart doctor. We're expecting surgery will have to be done.

Needless to say, this news blind-sided us totally. After he left to run some errands, I just lost it--- and had a full-fledged anxiety attack. Couldn't stop shaking and heart racing 90 mph. Right back to Level 1 Stress now.

I'm really upset, scared, and feel so helpless. We just celebrated our 37th Anniversary last week. He's my rock, the love of my life, and I think maybe we could use some prayers here.

hugs, Karen

Oh Karen - I am so sorry - you have a lot on your plate right now don't you? You poor thing. I can't imagine how you must be feeling and coping with everything. Hang in there, have faith that all will go well. Thank goodness the doctor caught the problem in time. Take a deep breath and know that there are many here who are praying for you and your family. Hugs and healing thoughts coming your way. Please keep us informed of how your Dad and DH are doing.

So sorry Karen to read what you're going through - my T's & P's go out to you and your family.
My best advise - take everyday one at a time, and find time for yourself to get lost into something else such as coming here to free your mind even if it's just for a minute and hopefully those minutes will turn into hours.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Karen. It's quite understandable that you'd be feeling a lot of strain and anxiety with all this going on.

I'm glad the doctor had the foresight to do that MRI, and not just discount the pain as being a pinched nerve. In a time where sometimes our healthcare feels impersonal, it's good to see they CAUGHT it so they can fix it.

Obviously, if you need to vent/expel some of that anxiety, vent away!

    Sending well-wishes your way,
    Jenn

I am truly sorry to hear about everything your family is going through. The phrase "when it rains it pours " seems really appropriate at times like these. Yet, after the rain , the sun always shines again. Your family WILL get through this tough time. I am praying for all of you and have faith.....

I don't come on this site very often but just read this and so sorry you are going through it all. T&P for your family. Please find time for yourself also. I have care of my DH who has MS and I know that it is very important to take care of yourself first so you can take care of them. (((HUGS)))
