GE Monogram integrated warming drawer installation issues.

We bought a GE Monogram warming drawer with the kit to install a custom panel to the front so it will match the rest of our kitchen. We did this before we read about how much the GE Monogram units make the integrated panel stick out. Now I'm trying to compensate for this by recessing the area were the unit will mount to bring it back closer to the wall and thus bringing the front panel in flush. To do this though I will have to cut out the back of the cabinet and move the warming drawer to about 1/4" away from my drywall. Has anyone done this or see issues with doing this in regards to heat against the drywall? I've left the unit on for hours to see just how hot it gets when on high. It does get too hot to touch but it doesn't seem like it would be a fire issue. And the heating element is at the bottom of the unit where it's in direct contact with wood anyway. So what do you think?

Thanks
