My first attempt at stacking plates

You ladies are dangerous! :) I have been obsessed with trying "stacking plates" for weeks, but was too cheap to spend too much money on the cake plates! Finally Hobby Lobby had them half price, so I couldn't resist! Did this one last night using many things from the dollar store. Also started decorating a garland for my balcony with the same types of ornies. So...how early is TOO early to start putting Christmas decorations out?? I'M READY!!! :) So does anyone have any suggestions for tweaking my plates? Did I do this right? I'm so excited!! Thanks for the new obsession!

I think you did a great job! You carried out a great color theme, and you have a nice assortment of ornies, greenery, bling. The only thing I might add is to go to Walmart and buy some of the "flattened" marbles/gems, add them into your top glass holding your topper orniament. Or you could even break away a few of the red bead berries, and add them to the bottom of the top glass ornie holder, just so there is not too much "see" thru going on at the bottom of the glass. Just a suggestion, your stacking cake plate looks great.

Thanks, judith. I knew that topper needed something, but I wasn't sure what. I think I might have some of those laying around! I've been so inspired by everyone's creativity here-the only bad part is that I've started using my stash of ornaments (meant for the tree!) on other stuff, so now I need to go buy more!!

LOL, I know what you mean, I have to give up some of my ornies ment for the tree or the wreath or the garland, a hard choice since they don't make a particualr style of ornie that I used for my cream/gold look this year. But you made a great choice, now you will just have to go out and buy more for your tree. LOL

Nice job! I am hoping to have my first in a week or two when I get my Christmas decorations out of the attic!

Gasuz-a week or two??? What's the hold-up?? Haha! My family thinks I've lost it, but I'm ready to decorate everything! However, I won't have my tree until after Thanksgiving, so that will have to wait!

I think you did a great job, I haven't tried stacking plates yet.

For us dial-up gals, can I ask that you resize your pics smaller, it takes me almost 20 mins to open a thread with big pictures. Thanks.

Ouch, sorry about that yachter. I didn't realize they were so big until I re-posted. I'll do it right next time!

I'd like to try to make stacking plates, unfortunately, I haven't the needed material - except a Tupperware that I lastly used for my plants, lol. However, this one is splendid! Great job on it, superchick!

superchick...I agree with Mo..would never have believed this was your first attempt. You did a pretty dang good job. I like the colors and how everything is graduated. Also, I like how you incorporated the greenery and the berries into it all..very nice...geesh..I'm looking forward to the end of all this Fall deco. Seeing pics like this, is giving me the fever for Christmas!!

VERY nice. I'm glad you joined in and discovered the fun of these addictive things. LOL. I started doing mine year-round! Every holiday and every season when there's not holiday. Just seeing them all festive on my table seems to make me happy these days. I LOVE them!
You sure did good for a first-timer. Glad you didn't see mine, LOL.

    hugs, Karen

Wow!!! You did great for your first attempt. Much better then I ever did. I decided I don't have the stacking plate talent and will stick to the tablesettings...lol
But you truly did an amazing job!

Gosh, y'all are sweet! The only problem is that I'm certain the moment I try to move it, everything's going to fall off. I wasn't thinking to decorate it in the place it would be displayed!

I've been working on a garland for my loft. I've been to the store no less than 10 times and hit every dollar store in two towns. They only carry 2 boxes of everything I need! So it's still not done! I've always wanted to do it up right for Christmas, but never had the space or time until now. And now I have LOTS of inspiration, thanks to you guys. So now that I'm starting decorating for Christmas, I found out I may be having Thanksgiving here...so what to do with the all the Christmas stuff??? UGH. Now I'll have to decorate for Thanksgiving instead! BACK TO HOBBY LOBBY! :)

LOL!!! You sound just like me. Where did you find them at HL??? I have made some from candle holders and glass plates. I'm gathering angel figurines....
And I have already decorated the garland and put on my mantel. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

It's very pretty my colors... red green and gold.

You did a fabulous job and no one would know that it was your first time doing stacking plates.

Great job. i love the ribbon running through the plates.

Looks really pretty Superchick, I agree it sure doesn't look like a beginner made it. Glad you had fun with it, and know you will be wanting to do more of them. I'm having Thanksgiving at my house this year, so no Christmas until after that. Luvs

Superchick, I think you did a fantastic job on your plates! I'm so glad to see someone else who has Christmas enthusiasm early...I've already got half of my house decorated. Will be working on the rest of it this weekend. Personally I don't think it's ever "too early". LOL!

Very NICE! Very festive too! I will have to try one of these stacking vignettes.

Superchick, I agree with everyone else's comments...your stacking plates are great. I love the ribbon running through also.

    Superchick,
Your first try turned out so very pretty! I love the traditional red plaid ribbon you used. I haven't even looked in my Christmas storage totes yet. I have more stuff than I have room to display it. That way I can mix it up from year to year. Looks different every time.

dreamgoddess-that's hilarious that you already have 1/2 your decorating done. I'll be letting my family know I'm not the only one ready to go! But I AM trying to hold myself back since we may have Thanksgiving here. I think I want to switch gears and do something for Thanksgiving now! I've never really had the opportunity to decorate for "seasons" and I'm totally into it! (thanks to you all!)
