    Welcome pasula

I do it all the time and others have done so too!

It would be fun to see your inspiration.

It's always nice touch if your provide the name of the book the pic came from so others can buy it if interested.
I've bought a few books just that way from inspiration pics posted,

It's from Leisure Arts "THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS"
    from the year 1993.

please guide me on how to put a pic directly on here please. I have them in photobucket.

there are more pics in the book. one is of a bear tree and
another is a nautical tree, penguin tree, kitty-cat tree,
nutcracker tree, gifts of the Magi tree, button country christmas tree. the one I am doing is the christmas carousel tree. I have most of the horses made.

    Pasula,
On your photobucket page, below each photo there is a HTML code. You just click on the yellow box that starts with (it will get highlighted automatically and copy the link thats necessary). Just come to your message window and paste it. Thats what I do atleast. There might be a better method somebody else has.

The trees in that book sound wonderful, I definitely want to see some photos. I'm glad you are doing the carousel one, that will be my favorite I bet. (I have a lifesize carousel horse in my livingroom and some smaller figures of them I've collected.) But the penguin, kitty, and teddy bear trees all sound neat too.

I'm glad you came out of Lurkdom, we have so much fun here and I hope you will continue to join us now.

Pasula, I'm going to post a link to some step by step picture posting instructions that our friend Angela did for us on the Painting forum. If you follow them, you can post multiple pics all at one time.

I am still uneasy about posting pics out of books or magazines because I'm not sure the copyrights allow that. I am always afraid I'll get caught and be in trouble! LOL

Oh, I forgot to say that I've been "collecting" some of those Spirit of Christmas books when I'm thrift shopping. I now have #2 through #10 and I love the pretty pictures and great ideas in them. I sure need to find #1 now. Anyone know how many books they did in that series?

Pasula, which one of their books are you looking at?

Thanks Luvs for the link , it was most helpful.

Then you have the book i have, It's book number seven,
every time I go to a used book store I look for
    Christmas books.
Here is two of the horse I have made, I have some in
purple and yellow flowers too. I realy like the pink the best.

My DD is at college, I hope she dosen't put up to much of a fuss about it because she likes me to put up the candy tree, I had it up last year and the year before that it was my gold and white tree.

I decided that book sounded too interesting, so went to eBay and bought one. I can't wait to get it. Just hope I don't want the whole series now, LOL.
The horses are darling, but when I try to click on them to enlarge, Photobucket gives me an error thing. Darn it.

I wouldn't worry about that here - I think the board moderators would have given a warning by now. Also, you're giving the book free publicity and possibly selling some.

From what I seen and read, you would get a cease and desist warning letter first. The people that got in trouble w/the music downloads - is one, they didn't buy it at all, you bought the book and you're not scanning putting the whole book online for free denying the author royalties and two, many shared, thus denying the artist even more royalties.

If you have a blog and use copyrighted material w/o permission you may have some trouble becasue you could be making money off sombody else's work if your blog has ads.

I didn't think of it at the time, but when Judith used Mary Carol Garrity's book for her class and was fearful of using pics from the book for legal/copyright issues, she could have contacted Ms Garrity, explain to her what she was doing and ask permission to post specific pics from the book for a class discussion and post "used w/permission" under them if given.
You never know, Ms Garrity might have even chimed in and contributed.

sorry Karen, I just started that PB account and still learning what to do on there.

about those horses. you have no idea how hard it has been for me to find those small roses. Wal-mart used to have them in bunches but they no longer have them like that.
I know they have them for the scrapbookers, I got a few of them. I know HL has them and did get some from there, but I live about one and a half hours from them.

I did work for my community thrift store but I got laid off in October. anyway I went in there last week and just looking around and I ask the lady how business was doing and she said it was doing pretty good and she said someone had brought in some donations and some of them was craft supplies and she hadn't put them out yet, so she went in the back and got them. she open it up and started to pull out bag after bag of those roses. I can tell you was beside myself with joy.
I told her that I was looking for those everywhere and she only charged me a 1.00 for them.

OK Jim, I'm going to put one up, but if I get into trouble, I'm going to point my finger at you and say you told me to do it. LOL

Did you make the little horses or are they from the book. Guess I need to pull my book out and relook at it. They look nice and wouldn't be hard to do at all if you have a scrollsaw to cut them out. Or you could even do them out of posterboard maybe. Luvs

yes, I made those, I made them out of foam board, right now I can't remember if that's what it said to use. It was real easy do, the only thing I have trouble with is trying to decide what color to put with what color.
