I hope you find some good success stories with Overstock vanities. They always look so great, but I'm such a chicken. Maybe do google searches for reviews from people who have bought furniture on Overstock? Our little GardenWeb bathroom forum isn't that huge...maybe try GardenWeb Furniture forum or Home Decorating forum to ask there about Overstock quality experiences.

I love Overstock...and considered a vanity from there one long night, but reviews for vanities there are so hit or miss I was too chicken to pull the trigger - and I didn't love it- it just fit the space and the price was good; AND returning it would be a monumental hassle. If that vanity represents your style...stellar solid wood vintage and antique buffets / sideboards are all over CraigsList, and at antique and junktique stores...you might fall in love with something-- so easy to have topped with stone and sinks.

I've not purchased a vanity, but did purchase a wine shelf (it stores glasses, bottles, has a drawer, etc.). It was a "build it yourself thing". It was very well packaged - no damage in shipping, and is very sturdy. I'm very pleased with it. In comparison, bought a table from Wisteria, and had to send it back for scratches. It was hardly wrapped at all. Second table was still scratched, but I just re-stained it with the gel stuff. I did pay close attention to the reviews on Overstock.

To go along kitch and kats idea, build it yourself. Or repurpose a double dresser. That way you can do whatever you want to it and make it your own one of a kind. There are spray paints to make anything look like stone, epoxies, etc.
