Christmas Snowflake table test run

Please let me know what you think. The table will be pulled out to its full length and the tablecloth will be ironed and unfolded out to fully cover the table.

Thank you for all for the inspiration!

Kath

Very pretty! I love the contrast of all the red on the white!

Thank you. Obviously going with a red/ white theme :) It looks like it will be just DH and I at Christmas dinner this year so I will have to go with just 2 plate settings. I am thinking of changing the way the snowflake hangs off the apothocary jar but am at a loss as what I could do.

Kath, I don't think there's anything wrong with the snowflake on the apothocary jar. It may be that it doesn't sit right with you because it needs a couple more heavy weighted items to go along with it - say a couple of red pillar candles at about 1/2 the height of the jar. Maybe put a smaller white snowflake on each of the pillar candles as well. Someone else should be able to chime in here. Someone like mary ruth who understands balance better than I.
    What do you think?

I'm glad to see you used checkered placemats, I was thinking of using some as well and then I thought I'd better dismiss the idea because I was afraid that checked fabric was only for summer. But your placemats are perfect. Is there a bit of green that runs through them as well?

Like the big bold flakes you used for napkin rings. Did you make them? If so, how? I can't quite make them out in picture 2.

Hi OA. I agree, something is missing w/ the centerpiece. I thought the snowflake votive candle holders from YC would be enough but it does need a medium height item too. The checked placemats do have just a touch of green running through. I did make the napkin rings. I got red napkin rings, 8 to a pack from DT as well as the snowflakes. I just hot glued the snowflakes on. Keep the ideas coming. I sure do appreciate it!

Kath, take the flake off and see if you like it better...

maybe put some more red balls and candy canes in the fluffy stuff around the jar?

How about a chunky red candle, or some red votives.Just for the 2 of you a little candle light can't hurt! Little dishes with swirly red and white pepermints...it would all go and be whimsical..
I think I see some votives behind the flakes?

Love your check mats against the white, nice and crisp..
    Good start..have fun with it!
Glad you joined us.. just the 2 od us most of the time here too, but still fun to set the table!

Kath, here's one a did last year..I have posted it already...maybe you can get some ideas..I have plans to improve this one as I just used what I had on hand, and do one with blue that I have...
So get ready for the Flake Off..Dec 1st....:)

Kath, Your snowflake table is so cute. I love that it's all red and white too. Your red apothocary jar is so pretty. I think your snowflake candle holders would look nice with red candles in them or like OA & Kathleen said use taller red pillar candles with the snowflake glued to them.

OA, I kind of feel the same way about the thinking that red and white check is summery, but I used mine for an apple table in early fall and last Christmas for a snowman table. I'll be setting the same table for the Christmas holidays again this year.

Kathleen, You know I love your snowman table. You got such a great buy on those dishes also. And you & both are doing a snowflake table with blue this year. Are you going to use the Pier 1 aqua? I wish I had more accessories to go with the aqua.

When are we doing the snowflake tables?

Just a note, I'm seeing "tons" of red & white things with snowflakes even at Walmart, of course, because I'm going with blues this year! LOL! FIGURES, so you red & white ladies will have lots to choose from!!

I like the sparkly garland in the middle with the reds!

Kathleen, love your little "mitten" dishes!

Kath, that red apothacary jar is gorgeous--I've never seen a red one before. The checked placemats go great with the plates and the jar. Did you make the wreath? Is it made from cellophane? It sort of looks like some I saw not too long ago on a crafts site, very fluffy and pretty--goes well with the snowflake theme. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Kathleen, I think you know I really liked your table too. Those little mitten bowls are so cute, and we all know I love snowmen.

Kath, great table, love red & white together, so striking. That apothecary jar is wonderful. Did you try tying the snowflake with a nice ribbon instead? Just a thought. I agree with the suggestions the others have made to add more red ornaments in the center area. Isn't it fun to play around with tablescapes...usually takes hours and hours for me!

Thanks for all of the comments. I got the apothocary jar on clearance, 90% off, at Hobby Lobby last year! I think I paid $1.90 for it. I will try the snowflake around it with a ribbon instead and also try just taking it off. I did make the center wreath. I took a white foam round and just added the white snowflake garland from Michael's and then added the red balls and hubby added the candy canes. I am debating using the taller candles or maybe trying the red wire sparkly trees I have seen at DT? Thoughts? Again, keep the help coming! Thanks!

Very pretty and so festive! It looks like the dining room table at Santa's house, actually.

    Kath,
Very nice. Really like how you have kept it simple but still carrying the theme nicely. I really like the red jar too. It looks great. I vote for the candles in the snowflake candle holder - the snowflakes are all airy looking so something solid might be good - just my 2c. :)

Your wreath came out very nice. I just have to say that for some reason, the snowflake draped around the neck of the jar bothers me. It makes the jar look like a woman wearing a necklace, LOL. Sorry, it might just be me. Maybe tie the the snowflake?

I've found what you all can give me for Christmas (and I know how it's been weighting on your minds).
Here are the snowflake chargers I need for my Flake-Off table. Of course, I'll have to spray them a brighter color, but I wouldn't want you to have to buy the spray paint. I'll be appreciative, only expecting the chargers and nothing more.

    Thanks in advance,
    OA

LOL, OA...Will 4 be enough? As soon as I saw Neiman Marcus I knew it would be trouble!!
Too seasonal to spend that much...go with the dollar store flakes...:)

Yes, Yachter, we thought it would be fun...
Dec 1... I'll start the thread, and people can add to it when they are ready...no pressure..

You guys (gals) are so helpful as well as dangerous! I have already have visions of next year's Christmas table dancing in my head!! ARG! LOL!

Wow, OA, those chargers are fantastic and expensive! I think they could be made with wood with a scroll saw but it will probably be a lot of work. :)

Ugh, I was at a dollar store yesterday on my way from Portland to Seattle where we stopped to get coffee. And it was soooooo much better than the one nearby. But, unfortunately, DH was with me and I just could not buy all the stuff I wanted. But, I did buy some green stemware so I was happy. :) They had so much snowflake stuff there - now I really need to find a bigger dollar store nearby. That was over an hour's drive from my house. LOL.

Yatcher - I am going with blue and white too if I ever get the table done. :) Target has some retro blue snowflake dishes and stuff btw.

Note to self **must NOT head back to DT no matter HOW pretty all these table settings look**

Kath - it looks so pretty the way you have it done - I love the snowflake on the apothacary - I have a red florist vase and think I will borrow the idea - at least I DON'T have to go and buy that - lol.....

Nice Try, OA. Tho I expect you'll have as much luck as me with my "collection plate" attempt. LOL

And Lynne, good luck with that note to self.
