Gas and Induction

I have a gas cooktop and am planning a gas rangetop in the new kitchen. But before I make the final decision, should I be considering induction instead of gas? What are the pros and cons either way? I know induction would be easier to clean and heats water fast. But I know there are folks who would never give up gas for induction, so please, can you tell me why? I like my current wimpy gas cooktop as it is so much better than the electric one I had before it -- and am sure I will love a new gas rangetop -- but just have to feel confident that I at least considered why gas rather than induction. So, why is gas better? Why is induction better?

Please so a search. This has gone around numerous times, you should have no problem finding it.

Also, keep in mind the electrical requirements for induction.

I changed from gas to induction and couldn't be happier. I know some folks around here don't like Consumer Reports, but in their August kitchens issue, the induction cooktops rated higher (all of them) than any other gas or electric option.

Induction has amazing temperature control, ease of cleaning, doesn't create ambient heat in the kitchen, is safer, blends well with today's modern kitchen aesthetic, etc.

Can you tell I'm in love? LOL!

You could do a search as mentioned. But I have read every one of them for the last 7 months. Net is that there is no one answer. Hence, we are getting both! :).

Reason for gas in our case is the need for griddle, being able to use any pan, not worrying about damaging the surface, etc. Reason for induction is greater power, safter cooking (e.g. deep frying) and not heating the house.

Maybe after we live with this combo will think that one could do the job for the other. But right now, that is where we are at (and fortunate enough to have the room and flexibility for both).
