My Christmas table

Hi all

Thought I would share what I came up with for my christmas table this year. I was going for tradition with a touch of upscale elegance. I ended up with just what I wanted after much changing and searching for green candles and napkins.

Here was my inspiration photo.

Here is my table.

That was quite the undertaking, looks a big dinner party!
Your table is lovely, and I liked all the different shots of it. I'll put it in our table setting album as soon as I can, have a lot of catching up to do in that album.

Very nice! I love your idea for the napkins - using a ribbon with bells instead of a traditional napkin ring. I'm curious - what did you give your guests as favors/gifts? I'm always looking for ideas for small token gifts for dinner guests. TFS!

I think you way surpassed your inspiration table! Your tablesetting is gorgeous! I love how you decorated your runner. Just beautiful!

Blizlady, I have a suggestions for favors. At the dinner party I hosted last week for some of my family, I gave each of the ladies a Christmas ornament and a small box of candy to the men.

Very nice. Like how you did your centerpiece and how you decorated all the different food tables. Just spotted the cheese cake and remembered I still have some in the fridge.

Thank you and don't worry about adding it to the album. I'm happy with the way it turned out but it could have been much better. I wish I had the time to really fix it properly (iron everything, make the runner the right way instead of just folding it over etc.) I had finals all the way up until the 23rd and didn't even get to do grocery shopping until Christmas morning and then had to do the rest on Friday then start the cooking and decorating. I was barely ready when the guest arrived.

Thank you. I got the ribbon with the bells on them from the dollar store (2 for $1). When I saw them the first thing I thought of was the napkins. I gave everyone a christmas mug just a little momento from the dinner. They were free to exchange amongst each other if someone had a design they liked better. I didn't put name tags on them. Everyone liked them and thought it was a very nice gesture.

Thanks so much I was going around and around trying to decide on a tablecloth color all red or all green all white. They all looked nice but seemed to be missing something. Then I saw the the photo above and knew that was what I wanted to do. I love the idea of the ornaments. Years ago I use to put every family members name on an ornament and place it on the tree. Maybe next year ( if I do it again which will depend on if I can get vacation from work and no final near Christmas) I will do that again as the momento gift. Put their name and date or something like that on each one.

Thank you, I was very anxious to use my triple burner I had been eyeing hat on HSN for about two years and finally decided to get it this year. It worked great. Those cheesecakes were delicous!

Thanks! I found the candle holders in target for $20 and found the candles the day before the party at target too. Why they didn't have them out before Christmas is beyond me. I knew I wanted something tall to go with it and happened to come across the candelabra set in a home decor store also $20. I knew thew would be perfect as soon as I saw them. Everyone raved about them at the party.

    Catiecupcake

Love the name! Thanks I wanted to keep it traditional with the red and green. I cook so much food but I still never get to make everything I want I just run out of time. Everyone goes home with at least three bags of food. They can eat for at least a week!

OH I love those candleholders. Everything was wonderful....

You way surpassed your inspiration pic! Everything turned out beautiful, and you added so many nice details. Love the little deer in your centerpiece too, and some of your ornaments are just gorgeous. I really thought the bows and bells were perfect for your napkins too. Great job! Luvs

Thanks yeah those were a big hit!

Thanks I get all my ornaments from the dollar stores, they really have some great stuff!

    Gail

Thanks I had plain gold chargers that I got from target but then found those online at JCPenny's for a bargain.

    Kathleen

Thanks. Isn't the triple burner just the best! This was my first time using it but I know I will use it more in the future.

    Susan

Thanks. I think those candleholders were very popular this year. A few other people have told me they have the same ones. They have them with a red globe too. Awww I wish you had gotten them they are adorable. There is always next year. I'm actually going to go back and get some more. LOL

    What a beautiful table!

I love everthing I saw in the pictures; especially the glasses (glasses and Xmas villages are things I particularly love and enjoy to look at)!

Thank you! I have done nothing but sleep this whole week! I rent chairs every year. I love the dinnerware set. I lucked out and got all I needed on sale before Brylane Home stopped selling them. :)

    Prosperity66

Thank you! I almost didn't get the glasses. I thought they might be sort of cartoon like but they are actually very nice. I'm not sure Brylane Home will be selling them again next year as I don't see them on the website anymore and they too were on sale. :) I'm glad I got extra of the glasses and dinnerware when they had it just in case something breaks or I get more people one year.

Than reminds me I need to go get some more of those bows with bells.

Beautiful table! I also noticed your gold bamboo chairs. I was just thumbing through an old Christmas issue of Victoria magazine and a photo shoot in there featured those chairs for a holiday dinner party. Love them!

    Hi Lynn

Thank you for the compiment. I was going to get white ones but then changed my mind. Glad I did.

Late in posting but also wanted to say how great your Christmas tablescape is! I think it is wonderful when we can look at a magazine picture and run with it....your pic was good but what you created is even better! Being a big fan of candles, I love how many of them you used and think it must have looked stunning when they were all lit. One question though, did you find those tall gold candleholders blocked sight-lines across the table or were they tall enough to look 'under' them? They have some sets of them here at a local store (1/2 price now!) and after seeing your setting...I have ideas! Thanks for sharing!

    Dining Delight

    Thanks!

I can't remember them being a problem for anyone to talk across the table. If you can get them at half off I say go for it! They are really beautiful and that is what everyone will be commenting on trust me.

Thanks for replying. I think I will go see if that store still has a set...or two...or three, like you got!

Just saw this..so sorry to comment late..
Your Christmas table is just lovely and so festive, with lots of great color. I do the same thing with setting up a seperate food station. It's so much easier for everyone to help themselves and not be crowded. YOu set it all up very nicely. I like your centerpiece and your stems too.
Looks like you really paid attention to every detail and it all looks just perfect...right down to the little gift bags.
    Very nice touch!

How did I miss this? WOW! I don't know where to start....I love it all. You went to a tremendous amount of work to create such a beautiful holiday spread. The gift bags on the chairs is just the crowning touch. So nice!

Aww thanks guys. All the wonderful responses really warm my heart. :) I was happy with it but I mostly saw all the things I could have done better.
