Finally - tree is up

7.5' slim tree, 540 multicolor C5 LED lights. These are just some quick shots - will try to take some more of my various vignettes over the weekend when I'm not as busy. At least you can see some of the mantle in the tree shots.

With flash:

Without flash:

A couple of the ornaments, photos aren't great but give you the idea. Santa after a good day of fishing:

Santa reeling one in:

Bad photo of one of my favorites. Look out Santa!

A couple of notes for those who are interested:

Decided to not use my "naturalistic" garlands downstairs this year. They looked ok our 1st two Christmases here, but now that the decor in the main living area is finally finished it felt very out of place. Next year I think I'll work it into my front porch decor since it matches the porch tree and wreath. The porch is done for this year and I'm not redoing it. ;-P

I made a mistake in switching out the lights on my trees this year. The corner where the big tree lives in our LR/DR is quite dark, and while the multicolor LEDs have great pop they don't have enough oomph to give the whole tree the glow it really needs to stand out at night. Conversely, I'm having the opposite problem with the 5' real tree in our MBR. I used warm white LED minis on that tree and they have all sorts of oomph - enough to read by. Oh well, I'll get it right next year.

Very pretty. Love the Santa ornaments. My Mom and Dad use to love those type ornaments. They had some of those and the flamingos on the tree.

Flattie, welcome to the forum. Your tree looks lovely as does your mantle. I struggle with whether my pics are better with or without the flash too, both of your's look good though. Several of us are trying out the new lights this year, it will take awhile to figure out which ones we like best I guess. Thanks for sharing your decorations with us. Luvs

Welcome Flattie...I agree w/everyone, your tree is lovely. Also love the color combo on your mantel. The red really stands out w/the silver very nicely. TFS, and Enjoy your holidays!

Welcome from me too, and thanks for showing us your tree.
I am really liking the looks of the slim trees I see this year! I keep wishing I could have a BIG tree like you and the others but just not possible any longer, so I have to enjoy everyone else's. I'll really appreciate my little trees when it comes time to un-decorate. LOL.

    hugs 'n Happy Holidays,

Karen, I think you probably enjoy cuddling and laughing at the antics of those fur babies allot more than you would enjoy a tree for just a few weeks. Who knows, now that you have your "magic" spray bottle, you might be able to do a tree again. Luvs

Very pretty! I really want a slim tree as well. Plus I like the colored lights. And the mantel too.

    Thanks everyone.

calicocat1967, I'm really loving the red too. It's the predominant color in the LR/DR decor, and I'm happy I finally went with something bold. I'm keeping my eye on a red ornament wreath at Pier One which would be perfect for the mirror.

dd50, The majority of the santa ornaments are from my in-laws. I really get a kick out of them, they're just so fun. Came very close to purchasing one or two flamingo ornaments this year, but decided to wait since I added some other pieces to the overall decor this year.

Thanks Luvs. Part of the problem I had with the photos is the one with the flash gives a much better reading of the wall color. The one without the flash gives a much better reading of the contrast with the wall color and marble fireplace surround. And I agree it's going to be trial and error for those of us who have moved to the LED lights this year.

bonniee, Thanks. I really enjoyed your tree too. Very pretty.

    catiecupcake, :) Merry Christmas!

purplemoon, lol. I'm not looking forward to packing this up in January. A lot of new additions so I'm going to have to completely rework the whole thing. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to get all of it into the basement storage area. I think we're going to have to find a new place for hubby's off season clothes. ;)

bright199, The slim trees are great if you're short on floor space. I think my downstairs layout is similar to yours - LR and DR in an L shape. Then I have the weirdness that is the fireplace accent wall. It's on an angle and it's 2 stories tall (the ceiling height in the LR/DR is 8'). So I have some really strange transitions to work with, and this is the only place I can put a tree without moving and storing furniture.

Also, I really love the colored lights too. If we ever upgrade the power here I'd be happy to go back to the old style C7s, but who knows how much longer they'll even be available. :(
