I painted a few things

I painted a few ornaments and a couple of poinsettia plaques. There are three posts of them on the Painting forum gallery if you'd like to see them. I'm working on a bigger Santa sign now. Luvs

luvs..you are too modest. I love your painted ornaments. They are adorable..Your little snowmen and ginger guys came out so cute. You are so patient adding so many fine details and color. I esp love the poinsettia placques.
You said you cut them out yourself. Do you use a ban saw?
I've used Dh's to do some projects in the past, and he was not too happy. He said that's the most dangereous of all the saws. I love it though b/c of all the nice shapes you can cut w/it. Well, once again..don't be so modest, and I love what you do, and share w/us.

Thanks Jane, Lynne and Karen. I use a scroll saw, actually have two of them and use both, one with thin blade and one with larger blade so I don't have to change out blades much. I've never used a band saw. I love to paint things with cute little faces, they just make me smile. The poinsettias were a stretch for me, I don't normally try to do any "realistic" painting. Fun to have all of you to share my "creations" with. Luvs

You do fabulous work. Your attention to detail is great and you are your own worse critic. Beautiful!

The ornaments and plaques were beautiful - really, you could easily sell those! My fav were the plaques!

Jane, I have a scroll saw too and you can cut really intricate things with it and its extremely safe. Actually, its like a sewing machine!! :)

DD50, Mo, and Kathleen, you all make me smile. And yes, I am my own worst critic--always thinking I could have done it better! But I guess that isn't all bad, keeps me working at it. ;o) I do good to get a few things made for friends and family, no way I could mass produce to sell.

Minnie, I'm sorry your painting teacher left town too. Heck, you are such an experienced crafter, I bet you could grab a book and just follow it and teach yourself.

I'm seeing lots of wood pieces decorated with scrapbooking papers, pieces of fabric, laces, trims, and beads, etc. too. There are still so many things I still want to paint, and I'm keeping my eyes open for good sale prices on some wooden chargers I've seen at Joanne's.

In addition to cutting out wood pieces, I'm always looking for things I can rehab with a coat of paint. My favorite thing was the little metal tub my neighbor had thrown in the trash because it had gotten dented--I gently hammered out the dents and spray painted it black, then painted on a woodland bear and a big welcome sign. Took it over to her and asked if she was sure she wanted to throw it away. You should have seen her face, it just made my day!
