Single 27" 500 series here - over 3 years later and not a single problem. Didn't want the 800 because I hate touch screens. I think that's pretty much the only difference with the 500. Anyway, no issues at all, and very happy with it.

Bear in mind, those who have problems are much more likely to report them on a website: those that are perfectly happy just get on with cooking!

I just got the Bosch HBL845 30" single oven and used it for the first time yesterday. I never read any stories about anything exploding. Where did you see that? At first i was cursing the touch screen but I'm getting used to it. One thing nice about it - it shows you all the options on the screen so you don't have to go "finding" them. It preheats fast and is huge cavity. Looks nice. Lighting is very good. I need to call about the telescopic rack - its not pulling out correctly or its not installed correctly.

I've read of other incidents of exploding glass on Bosch ovens on other forums; in one case, the owner says that she was only proofing bread dough at 85 degrees: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/bosch.html

I realize that there are many happy owners of Bosch appliances who don't post their experiences but at least I want to be reassured that in the event that something goes wrong, the manufacturer will repair the appliance quickly. And the fact that Bosch doesn't do its own servicing makes me rather apprehensive. I have friends who own a Bosch dishwasher who went through Bosch customer service hell for 5 years.

One of the reasons I don't like the 500 series of Bosch ovens is the incandescent lighting. For this price, you'd expect something a little more energy efficient - incandescent is becoming obsolete.

What I don't like about the 800 series is the touch screen - Some owners have complained that the screens became unresponsive and the oven could not be shut off, although that could be a circuit board failure of which there are also complaints. I'm sure, if this really happens, it's rare, but the thought that it could happen while I'm away, makes me shudder.

So far i've tested out the broiling and speed convection. both work great.

the 800 series has the halogen lighting.

the touch screen takes some getting used. i can see why people don't want it. mine is undercounter and i like it without the knobs. Its pretty easy to read from that height.

i have bosch servicer coming out on thursday to look at oven rack and the fridge ice maker that is running slow. i didn't get any run around on scheduling that except you need to provide serial #s.

Bosch HBL 645 A UC - eleven years and counting. Never a problem. Works as new.

Alert! For anyone considering a wall oven (or any other appliance that uses a circuit board), you should protect them from power surges. That it appears, is one reason why so many of our appliances' circuit boards fail, at least according to my appliance dealer and State Farm Insurance.

Saturday, I walked into the store where I buy my appliances to talk to the owner about my dilemma over choosing a wall oven. I told him that I was especially concerned about the electronics failing. He told me that power spikes are the main culprit, not just from lightning strikes, but also from refrigerator or air conditioner motors turning on and off.

And State Farm cautions that small repeated surges can cause damage that shorten the lifespan of an appliance. Ever experience a power outage? Of course you have. Well, when the power comes back on, the sudden surge could kill your appliance.

We lost a TV and a modem this way. And you can be sure that now our TV, computers and and other electronic equipment, are all plugged into hefty surge protectors.

And wouldn't you know it, on the day I was in the store, there was a Bosch 800 series wall oven showing an error code , caused by such an incident, according to the store owner.

Anybody with a Bosch or Wolf wall oven, please keep this forum updated on your experiences with your appliance.

This thread is one reason to avoid energy efficient progress. We have a GE profile oven and the touch switches are unreliable. Sometimes the switch that sets and turns on the oven dies. Then I have to try pressing the oven light switch or one of the others and keep checking. So far we are able to get that to work. I read a thread here once where someone had opted for an expensive oven because it had old-fashioned knobs. I wish someone still used a freon pressure switch without electronic boards. It might be worth cost if our touch pads require a service tech to come out.

We have a Bosch double 30" 800 and it is flawless, so far. In use for about 3 months. Bakes well. Haven't used the broiler or other functions. I love it.

I baked two challahs yesterday on the same rack, without rearranging, and no convection, and they both baked evenly, perfectly.

We have a Bosch 30” HBL 845 wall oven and the matching Bosch microwave, and they have been a real dissappointment. over 6 years of ownership, the wall oven has become very flaky, not heating consistently, and the microwave has been broken most of that time because the door design is terrible - the hinge springs have broken twice, the control panel has been replace because you could read it aftrr two years, and the unit itself stopped working. Bosch service has been a terrible runaround. We just had a technician out the fix the oven, and he immeimmediately replaced the control panel to the tune of $600, and it still struggles to heat and maintain a constant temperature. Now we’re waiting to get parts to replace one of the heating elements. We love our Bosch dishwasher, refrigerator, and induction range, but the ovens have been a disappointment.
