Vanity too tall?

We are considering purchasing an antique sideboard buffet online to convert to a master bath double sink vanity. Height is 38.5". Is this too tall?

DH and I are 5'9" and 5'5", respectively. We have another full bath for kids with double sinks and standard counter height.

To shorten the sideboard, legs would have to be removed and cut from the top due to claw feet, which we are not sure is possible without seeing the sideboard in person.

We would install either undermount or self-rimming sinks.

Also, we would like to add a thin marble/granite/quartz top. What is the thinnest available (so we don't add much height)?

We really like this sideboard otherwise, as it is the right length (difficult to find) and has cabinets on either end, so there would be no need to modify drawers. It's a beautiful piece in great condition at a really good price. Our only concern is the height.

TIA!
