How long is the normal warranty? The extended only starts after the the original ends. Most consumer sites advise against extended warranties but if they make you comfortable then go for it.

Think of your present appliances , if you had purchased the extended warranties for them would they have been earth the money or would the repairs been cheaper on a per need basis.

Some additional factors to look into and consider are how you paid for this, who is installing it, and whether the various warranties run concurrently or not.

If you paid by credit card, your card agreement *may* already offer some sort of extended warranty protection, or not (depending on the bank or card company).

If the product is installed by a "qualified" / "certified" (or whatever) Miele service person, then I believe Miele doubles their normal warranty automatically.

Finally, an extended warranty's "extension" period may run concurrently with the original or otherwise lengthened warranties, rather than starting after the others end. To some extent, this may depend on who you buy the extended warranty from (e.g., some third party or from Miele).

All may affect how good a deal an extended warranty seems to be, in your case for this product.

I have the Miele 36" induction cooktop, have had it for almost 2 years now with no problems whatsoever. Love it. Watch out for the power -- I went from an older GE gas range to this, and it was like going from a Chevy to a Ferrari.
