Fabyka vent hoods?

I'm curious as to weather or not anyone has any first hand experience with this brand of hood.

You know what they say, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is but my head is spinning at the cost of a good vent hood.

These seem to meet my needs, they're good looking and the price is cetainly right but I'm reluctant to buy something sight unseen especially since there are no consumer reviews available that I could find.

Here is a link that might be useful: Fabyka hoods

I am also in the market for an island range hood and came across the Fabyka brand. There is also one on ebay (FAD-I36) that is about $150 cheaper than the one at Fabyka (FD-I36). According to Fabyka reps, the ones on ebay are discontinued and have 0.8mm stainless and the new ones have 1.0mm stainless. These hoods are also made in Taiwan if you it makes a difference to you. I read the seller ratings on ebay for the person selling the discontinued models and there was nothing negative mentioned. These are still a little more than I would want to "throw away" if they didn't work properly, but I really don't want to spend $2500 either! Good luck - Don

These appear to be exactly the same as the "Cavaliere-Euro" hoods that someone posted about recently.

    Thanks dalerb66

That's helpful. The Cavaliere-Euro hoods are available through overstock.com. The customer feedback is overwhelmingly positive but I was still hoping I could find someone on this forum with some first hand experience.

I'm with you donroe it's still too much money to throw away on a fan that's too noisy or doesn't have enough suction.

    I think I'll keep looking.

DO NOT PURCHASE a Fabyka range hood.

I bought one. It came very damaged (over half of the spot welds had come apart). I contacted the company (who turns out uses a gmail address) and they told me that when I hang it I won't be able to notice the problem.

I insisted that I did not want to keep a damaged item and that they take it back, as per their return policy. They said that they would refund the $, but none of the shipping (which totaled $200... to me and back to them).

I shipped it back, didn't see a refund on my card, called several times and kept being told the refund would be made within a couple of days. It never came and now I am in the middle of disputing the charges with my credit card company.

DO NOT PURCHASE from "Fabyka". I believe it is a scam. Their customer service is nonexistent!

    Chabot11-

Thanks for this warning, I was about to buy one, and you definitely scared me off!

I'm curious, though, ardra, did you find a hood that you like? Looks like we're looking for similar things.

I purchased and installed an Fabyka island range hood, it was a complicated and delicate installation ( The installation pamphlet that comes with the unit is practically illegible and useless- typical low budget, but The materials that the hood is made from are of very good quality, and the finish and the look is also refined- i had issues with the spot welds coming apart on the hood riser as well- luckily i happen to own a spot welder... I was working alone - so I had to raise the entire unit from my attic space using a winch, otherwise it is a 3 man installation....careful, the glass frame is delicate!...let me know if you need pointers, overall rating 8.5 /10 ...Cheers

Just wanted to give my 0.2 cents...

We were looking for a 1200 CFM hood with baffle filters and everything we priced (besides your vent-a-hood) was more then $2500 (Canadian + taxes 13%). Independent, which is what we really wanted would have cost more then 3k. So we decided to take chance. We bought Fabyka from e-bay. Person selling was also using a gmail account (if it matters).

After reading the thread here at garden web, I was very afraid to order. However, my wife convince me to take a chance. We ordered from e-bay and paid over $140 for shipping. It shipped via FedEx Ground and arrived at my door steps exactly 7 days from shipping date. I took it out of the box and just plugged it in and it worked fine. Sigh of relive. Oh, BTW, FedEx just left it at my front door. I had setup a e-mail notification. I received an e-mail at around noon (at work) that the packaged was dropped off at front door. Not impressed, but oh well. Anyways everything seems ok, no physical damage of any sort.

I took 3 days before we can install it. I am happy with the unit with the exception of the buttons on the front. They seem very cheap. It is so cheap that they sent an extra set of button and LCD with the hood. It simply plugs in to the hood from behind the filters. I guess they expect it to crap out at some point and will expect me to replace it with the extra one they sent.

Very heavy unit, 89 KG, said on the shipping paper.

Overall, we are happy with the look, function, price, and the experience. Will I do it again? If the price difference is enough (maybe).

I doubt that they have either UL or ETL approval, sounds like someone who couldn't get approvals trying to dump his inventory, who do they claim will service the units

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BY FROM FABYKA RANGE HOODS!! THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER FROM THIS VENDOR. I RECIEVED THE RANGE HOOD COMPLETLEY DAMAGED....THEY WOULD NOT RESPOND TO MY EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS! I MADE A CLAIM WITH FEDEX AND THEY SAID ANY MONEY TO BE PAID FROM THE CLAIM WOULD GO TO THE VENDOR!!!!...WHO ISN'T TALKING TO ME. THESE GUYS ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS....SAVE YOURSELF AND BUY FROM SOMEONE ELSE....ANYONE ELSE. Feel free to contact me for further details!

Glad I found this forum. I was so close to ordering on Ebay but something told me to do more research.

I've been going nuts because I can't see these range hoods in person. I compared the manuals, call up the stores and still can't make a decision because even their manuals are VERY similar. I can't compare workmenship but it seems like the quality of the steel varies. Please advise.

    #304 & #201? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

    19 Gauge = 1.0mm
The lower the gauge # the better

    Euro-Kitchen SV218D $460+ 1 year warranty #304 19 Gauge
    1.0mm

    Cavaliere SV218D - Overstock.com $529+ #201 19 Gauge
    1 year warranty
I can't find the manufacturer website. There's warranty claim department in Overstock but they won't disclose the manufacturer contact info.

    Fabyka FD-30 EBAY $279+ 0.8mm? #304

    Fabyka FAD-30 $409+ Go Direct 1.2mm #304 3 Year Warranty

The Fabyka rep told me they are not affiliated with Ebay seller. They are the manufacturer. If I needed parts. I would have to contact the Ebay seller who then contacts the manufacturer for parts. If I go direct they have my record on file and can send me the parts. Apparently 1.2mm is sturdier and won't make as much noise on the highest level.

So I narrowed it down to the first 2 since I was warned by this forum about Fabyka.

    Euro-Kitchen $460 + $60 shipping = $520
    #304

Overstock Cavaliere $529 free shipping = $529 (sometimes if I wait overstock offers more discounts like 10-20% plus free shipping) #201

Should I wait for Overstock to go on sale or close the deal with Euro-Kitchen? IS THE QUALITY OF 201 VS 304 WORTH THE WAIT?

Seller did not deliver replacement parts (vent screens) for vent hood. Paid $46 8/9/10 by PayPal. Seller marked as shipped but did not have USPO pick up. Have sent numerous emails and phone calls to web site address. He said the order was on back order. He knows that Paypal does not return money after 45 days. The 10925 Beechnut Street Address Suite 240B is a post office box. The 832-208-9276 number is full of messages. I have two numbers for Hui Chai 281-530-1511 and 713-560-8222. His last email for money listed Sunflower Trading Inc.as his business. This person uses PayPal to his advantage, so that customer have no recourse.

I am another victim of the fabyka scam. I bought mine on ebay. about 2 weeks ago the 4 under hood lights stopped working simultaneously after being installed for only 1 month. Fabyka does not answer the phone or respond to email. The ebay vendor just wants to sell me the replacement part even though it is covered under the BS warranty. My advice; don't get lured by the cheap price. you are getting what you pay for and a completely absent manufacturer as well.

Yep same here, bought the hood, installed it lights gave out after 2 weeks and vendor does not honor warranty! complete rip off! now I have a hood installed that has no lights!

Used a FAB2-36 on a remodel job in 2008 and it is and was beautiful. Vents very well at numerous speeds but the low voltage lighting quit working after about two months.

I bought a Fabyka range hood 10 years ago on eBay and it still works fine. I only had to replace the light bulbs once. I was trying to get another one and noticed the bad reviews, I'm surprised. Maybe I just got lucky.
