Hood baffle vibration

We have a Prestige Pyramid hood with a 1200 CFM in-line blower. We are quite happy with it, except for an annoying vibration. At some air speeds, the baffles vibrate and generate a high pitched hum. If you touch the baffle, you can feel the vibration until your hand dampens the vibration. I contacted the manufacturer but they weren't much help (use a wood shim to dampen the noise or change the air speed so it doesn't make the noise). Anyone else have this issue and what did you do? The shim may be the last resort, but I'd rather not have to worry about the shim falling into the food.

It is a high speed whistle that occurs when air is passing thru the baffle, the problem can be solved by increasing the space betwee the baffle or putting black baffles in the front portion of the tepee design. Call Signature Marketing and ask to speak to Adam at ext 23 he can arrange to have the problem corrected, or do not run the unit on full throttle which you should not be doing unless you have made a great cooking error.

Thanks, Guadalupe. It is a problem with harmonics and the vibration is worse in the mid-range, not the top end. I've left a message with Adam, but I suspect he is gone for the weekend.
