Wolf island trim

I just purchased a Wolf RT364C 36" rangetop from a kitchen bath store that was clearing out display models and customer returns. Another customer had ordered this but decided the front knobs didn't match their cabinet choice. The rangetop was brand new and still strapped unopened to its shipping pallet.

My question is, what does the Wolf island trim look like and would it usually come attached from the manufacturer? Is it something that mounts behind the rangetop, extending its 24" depth, or something that would attach on top of it at the back but keep it 24" deep? There is a horizontal strip of stainless steel running along the top at the back, and I'm not sure if that's the trim or not.

What does the island trim do for me? Do I already have it or do I need it? I'll be installing this on an island with a bar seating area on the other side. The bar area is 20" deep (total island depth is 44") and the whole island is of uniform counter height. I understand on a range, the island trim might provide venting for the oven underneath, but this is a rangetop with no oven below it.

I particularly need to know if the island trim extends the depth of the cutout in the countertop.
