I think the first thing that stands out to me is that I would want to have the tv room next to the kitchen open to the kitchen if possible to make both rooms feel more spacious.

Looks like a lovely design. I always prefer a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom (one bathroom adjoining two bedrooms, with doors to each bedroom but not to the hallway). It is much more private, especially with such an open plan like this. I would consider a J&J bathroom between Bedrooms 3 and 4, then keep the bathroom next to Bedroom 2 open to the main living areas (for use by dinner guests and the like).

Like Emily, I would open up the kitchen, by removing the door and removing the segment of the North wall before the entrance to the TV area.

This looks like a house design in a more tropical regions.

I would rather see a courtyard floor plan as the dining room does not have any direct daylight, and also the main bedroom lacks privacy being just off the dining room. Also agree with opening the kitchen since it is very long and awkward at the moment.

TV/media room: loss the 1st window on the left. I take it these are small high windows? Your using the dead corner behind the sofa as a projector location, so I would bring the angle wall closer to the sofa and have a larger screen area. A pass through between the kitchen and the Media room makes sense.

Our kitchen is open to the livingroom area and it makes it impossible to watch TV if anyone is working in there. It does look nice to have all the open space but I'm going to wall it off as soon as possible. Just something to consider...

How best can I ensure that there is privacy to the master bedroom?

Is that windows above the living room?. The house looks lovely I don't know about how hot it is there or which direction the sun comes from so I can't really comment on where windows should be. I'm at a very similar stage to you with my house, and I know there are compromises. There is one thing that I required in my home, and that was privacy from the main living areas to the bedrooms that also included the outdoor spaces too. I tried to avoid having any door square onto these areas( (so guests can't look into the bedrooms when eating, or in the lounge). Though I couldn't get around it with the small patio I have off the master bedroom : (
About your TV room. The TV's are getting bigger and bigger. In your design have you taken this into consideration?

It's great to see another kitchen with an unusual layout. I was getting worried as mine has a kink in it too. All the ones I'm seeing here are square and I thought I'm maybe doing a huge mistake. BTW I'm in NZ so the house ideas are different. I'd love to see your finished result, it's going to look awesome.

What about (for your privacy to the master bedroom), but I'm no design expert.

The short hall on the master is a good design and so long as you don't mind the 2 bedrooms directly off the dining room you do not wast any space on halls a +++. The jack and jill bath mentioned earlier does reduce the number of doors. Though a rework of the mud room hall to include a 1/2 bath at the expense of a little of the court yard green leg might be more useful giving shorter walk to coming in from working in the garage or yard.

On the interior living room I'd make the wall between it and the patio glass. Unless you are stepping the living room down to get over an 8' ceiling the step down is not a plus as it limits furniture placement as well as general mobility for future temporary or age related access.

While I know from looking at some other South African designs that the post around a sunken living room is common up dating the support structure to eliminate the post with beams and adding a coupla over the living room with operable windows would provide a substantial increase in chimney effect ventilation. I'd use longer over hangs and lower sloped roof more in keeping with what you may have, I hope the concept is conveyed by the image
