What kind of budget/style are you going for?

Modern - thinkimh cherrywood and granite tops. Haven't really looked at budget yet, need to decide what we want to do first

Looks like a full overhaul. I would price our floors, new cabinets, counters & appliances. If it fits your budget, I would move forward. If not, I would scale back to cheaper finishes or start prioritizing & working in stages.

If you are keeping the same layout, I would start with floors first

Is there room for a peninsula instead of an island? I notice there's not really any room by the sink. What if you take out everything along the "left-hand" wall, put the DW on the other side of the sink where all those narrow drawers are, and then did an L-shaped peninsula from the right side? You could set the stove in the peninsula, but then placing the fridge would be tricky. Love that large window over the sink- don't get rid of that!

4.5m is plenty wide for a kitchen island.

You are not getting rid of the wooden spoon, are you? Sorry, couldn't resist! I think it maybe 4.5m long rather than wide which wouldn't allow for an island.

Haha Ruthmand -can never get rid of the spoon! It is our very expensive lock that keeps the cupbaord doors closed :-)
