Bathroom Vanity

Am I the only one who looks at these furniture style bathroom vanities, and thinks, "oh great! one more thing to sweep out from under. And you can't move it like a real piece of furniture.

Does anyone have suggestions and recommendations for the older style of vanity that goes to the floor? and what brands are well made? Are there any good products in the big box stores (H.D. or Lowe's)? A guy was suppose who reps a lot of kitchen cabinet companies who works with my contractor was suppose to call. Since I haven't heard from him, I'm feeling really squeezed for time.

    mimsy13,

I struggled with this issue because of the quality of what I found. Pay close attention to the materials used because many of them (i.e., engineered wood) may warp if they get wet -- which may happen in a bathroom!

Several lines sold in the big boxes may permit you to upgrade the materials.

It was my experience that quality improved in those stores if you could place an order, rather than buying what's on the shelves. You can find KraftMaid (differing views on recent quality) at both Lowes and HD, I think, and HD also carries a couple others I think.

I'm going to have my current vanity (whose door style I really like and is all wood and in great condition) painted. The cost of that compared to what I would have had to pay to get the same quality made it a no-brainer for me!

I have the same feelings... I shed like crazy and don't want to worry about cleaning my tumbleweeds of hair from underneath. I think we're reusing our old vanity that has a kickplate. But if we do get a new one, it will be in the same style. Don't have any recommendations for you, though.

I think I'm just going to go with the Master Bath line from Home Depot. There are different cabinet levels and enough colors for me. Plus, they are inexpensive. I have a cheap house, so no point in me getting my dream vanity.

Here is a link that might be useful: Master Bath

    thank you.
I looked at Kraft Maid at H.D. I have always heard that quality at these stores is shortchanged by manufacturer in order to lower price for the store. I don't have to have the best, but I will be upset if there noticeably inferior quality.

Our Kraftmaid kitchen cabinets purchased from Lowes 2 1/2 years ago are still beautiful.. We had hardly any problems just 2 doors that I wasn't completely satisfied with and they reordered no problem and had 2 weeks later. Everyone who comes in our kitchen comments about the beautiful cabinets. We are very happy with them, but we did upgrade to all wood. No regrets here.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I read somewhere else that says the Kraft Maid product does keep their quality the same no matter where you purchase it. I sure hope so.

You can also look at Strasser Woodworks and Jensen (San Francisco Bay area)vanities.

We are also in the process of remodeling our bathroom. We have found that Wood Pro and Bertch Cabinetry are very good companies when it comes to vanities. Strasser is very good too, but a bit more pricey. Hope this helps.
