miele advanta dishwasher g2170 scvi sf?

Has anyone ever heard of a Miele Dishwasher model ending in SCVI SF?

I can purchase a Miele Advanta Dishwasher for 1/2 price at an outlet store. I am looking for a custom panel model which, from the Miele literature, they indicate this with "Vi" in the model number: "Dishwashers that can be fully integrated with a custom door panel are noted with "Vi" in its model number (i.e. Advanta Series Model G 2170 SCVi)".

However this model is the G2170 SCVI SF, as noted on the label on the right side of the dishwasher where the serial number is. It has a stainless steel panel (with some dents), but no handle on it. Since I intend to put my own panel, this doesn't bother me, but I want to make sure that this dishwasher does accept custom panels.

The model is being advertised as a G2170SCVI, the warranty card says G2170SCSF, and the serial number label says G2170SCVISF!

On the Miele website, they list the G2170SCVI, and the G2170SCSF models. My guess is that this SCVISF model is a model that accepts custom panels, but comes with a pre-finished door. My sales person is going to check on that (I have it reserved until he checks), but I was hoping that the Miele experts in this forum could help me as well.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I think I made the question too complicated. The bottom line is, can I put a custom panel on a Miele Advanta G2170SCVISF?

Please be aware of the following facts about the advanta.

This is the entry level machine sold in the U.S.A. so it is not as quiet as any of the others..in fact it is the loudest one sold.

You have no option to get a larger unit. other models offer a 12 place and a 14 place setting unit. Advanta is only 12.

I don't think the racks are height adjustable. They are adjustable on other models and will also tilt on them.

This is the only model that does not dry the same way as all the other models sold in the U.S.A.. All other models use a fan to assist with drying. The advanta just sits there and waits for the steam to leave and the dishes to get dry.

I just wanted to point out a few of these things because even though the machine will wash and rinse your dishes I don't want you to be upset when you use and and find that you cannot do somethings you may have thought you could especially if you have read other posts on this forum about Miele DW. These posts are not talking about this model and any flexibility mentioned in these posts may not apply to the advanta.

Thanks for that, but I disagree on a couple of those facts.

    From the Miele website:

Both Advanta G2170SCVI and Advanta G2170SCSF have 14 place setting capacity.

The Miele brochure also indicates that Advanta dishwashers have a "Deep height adjustable upper basket".

I am aware of these as well as the Q1 ratings (which I don't personally consider loud)

The drying is passive drying vs. the CleanAir drying system of the other models.

I am getting a great deal so I am not complaining about these, but I am concerned about whether I can use the custom panel or not.

    I stand corrected!

I did not see the models at the bottom of the page in the brochure, and I did not see that that the baskets were height adjustable although I did qualify that statement by the words "I think" because I wasn't sure.

Yes it has passive drying Vs the cleanAir drying system which draws outside air into a chamber inbetween the DW walls and causes a temperature difference which aids in removing moisture from the dishes inside.. and that is the one thing out of all that I wanted to make sure you knew. Some folks complain about convection drying some don't. I think it is OK for almost every type of heavy constructed item but sometimes lightweight plastics have water spots on them. I really think it has something to do with the ingredients used to make the plastic item because some of them work just fine.

So as long as you understand what you are getting...that was my point.

I will let someone else who has more experience with custom panels answer your question.

If you get a chance after you get your DW please let us know how things are going with it.

"can I put a custom panel on a Miele Advanta G2170SCVISF?"

probably, unless they've changed things all you'd need to do is order the panel bracket from parts. Around 100-125 bucks. Attach your panel and walla.

Why don't you call Miele tech support and ask the horse himself?????

Well, I couldn't call them over the weekend, but I did call them today. They looked up the unit by serial number and said that this is a G2170SCSF (not G2170SCVI) so you cannot put a custom panel on it. And the worst part is, it was registered for the warranty in June 2006, so it's no longer covered by the warranty at all!

I am definitely not buying it.

Registered for the warranty? So this means someone else owned it? Was this a used DW?

The sales person doesn't know for sure, but he thinks that it was a display model or it was put in a display home. The unit has not been used, so no one knows why it was registered.

He did mention that a bracket can be bought from Miele parts to use a custom panel with the SCSF model. The price is only $33, so that wouldn't be a big deal at all.

Either way, I won't be buying it.

Hello, could you please share the name of this outlet, hopefully they are still in business? :D thanks a lot mardea88@gmail.com

It was Florida Builder Appliances in Pompano Beach, the outlet was in the warehouse in the back. Their original website is now redirecting to Monark and they do say they have a Monark Outlet Center.
