I am using Vista Ultimate and dont have it either. Could quite possibly be a security icon of sorts

well are you talking about on a browser like on IE or just where are you looking, I would need more info. IF IE which one 6 or 7?

If you are talking about the internet options in the control panel in xp on my security tab I have no such icon.
It sounds like it may be some type of encryption key icon have you got some type of encryption software or have encrypted files?
IF you right click on it does it have a menu? properties?

Yes, I was talking about the browser on IE , internet options and the security tab.
Right clicking does not show anything nor clicking on it. Not sure if it is some type of encryption key or not.
How do I attach a picture on here so someone else might be able to see the icon with key?

First of all I have windows XP
Now for my question. On internet options/security tab where it says Select a zone to view or change security settings I have icon with a picture of a key wrapped around the letter e, does anyone know what that means?
It is in with the same block as Internet, Local intranet, trusted sites and restricted. And yes the spelling looks wrong on the words Local intranet but that is the way it is spelled on mine. Anyhow how do I insert or attach a picture to show that icon? If it is a security icon, I still would like to know what it is about as no one else seems to have it on their Computer.

Hi sunshines. If you press CTRL + ALT + the Print Screen key it will copy just the dialog box. You can paste that into Paint or Irfanview or MS Word by clicking into the chosen application and pressing CTRL + V. After saving you will need to upload that file to Photobucket or a similar storage website, the either use the html code (to show the picture in your post) or just link to the picture.

Can you expand the box a little or scroll down? It shows "Your" but the rest of the description is chooped off. If we see the label, we may know what it does.

I cannot expand the picture to show you the whole shot but at the bottom of " Your, it says Computer.....YOUR COMPUTER.

I thought it might have something to do with file sharing, but I checked a computer that has a shared folder and I don't see that.

I did some searches and found many sites that show that tab, but none of them have the "Your Computer" option.

What do you see when you select it?

That suggests to me that you have a password. As it is an MS icon why not click on it to bring up the underlying window to see what it is about. Let us know please, interesting stuff

When I double click on the icon it only high lights the icon and revels nothing about it, right clicking on it does nothing as well. I don't recall ever setting up a password.

If you click it, what shows up in the area below it? For example, the description for Local intranet says "This zone is for all websites that are found on your intranet."

I wonder if this shows up if you have IIS installed. It doesn't show up with apache or tomcat.

if you RIGHT click on it do you have a properties option at the bottom? if so what does it say?

I think still it has to be something to do with encryption or you have set up a keypass to keep all the passwords under one main password.

I don't have that icon, but right clicking the other icons in that window does nothing and the OP has stated that right clicking that icon does nothing.

I sent the pic to a few of my tech buddies and all agree looks like an encryption program like pgp keys or a keypass program that has a master password you use which keeps all your other passwords safe.
You might look in your add remove programs list to see if you have some type of encryption or password safe programs listed, or check in your all programs list.

what browser are you using I don't see that you answered back where I asked if it was IE 6 or IE 7?

AND right clicking on MINE in internet options on any of the ones I have listed DOES do something it pops up a Whats this? box which when you click it, it tells you exactly what it is. If I right click directly on the icon itself, trusted site, restricted etc any of them brings up the Whats this? option.

I have an icon that is for embeded security...I have never initialized it because I read up on it and it was for encrypting....I have enough trouble without getting into that...but, I wonder if I wouldn't have that icon if I were to do that?

I have IE 7. When I right click on all the other icons I will get " What's this " but like I stated before the e with key revels nothing.
I ran a search and this was the results.
