You're doing better than me-- the Daltile warehouse I get all of my Kerdi supplies from-- the Kerdi Fix is by special order only. What I do is instead I use another waterproofing for any place I'd otherwise use the Kerdi Fix. It voids Schluter's warranty to me, but I'm quite confident in the material I use, so I'm not worried about it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble finding it. The inspector came and went, so I'm off to scoop up half of the greater Portland-metro supply.

BTW, Daltile was 2 of my 10 calls :)

Acquired! Funny, the rep at the tile shop was pushing me to buy both tubes they had. I guess he didn't want the pressure of having the very last tube in the city.

My shower fun begins soon. I'm studiously following all the recent and ongoing Schluter/Kerdi threads and learning a lot. Thanks to those posting. Stay tuned for my adventures.

The supply house where I normally buy stuff gave me a bit of lip several years ago when I first approached them about them carrying Schluter's stuff.

So back then I ordered it online. Being the pigheaded guy that I am, I still order it online.

And being the really really petty guy that I am, I went back to the supply house this past summer with 16 rolls of Ditra and Kerdi in the back of my van to pick up about $20 worth of stuff. And yes, I had the office manager, who gave me lip, carry the $20 worth of stuff out to my van.

He saw the $5k worth of Schluter and gave me "the look."

On Ebay a guy name Chicago*Classic*clothier (3,000+) is trying to unload 21 tubes of Kerdi-fix (grey only) at a reduced price. Suggest you get there fast if you want some. I bought some back in late Dec 2007.

I started using Schluter products about 10 years ago when they were REALLY expensive and REALLY REALLY hard to find. I'm just outside the border of the greater LA area, and Westside Tile and Buena Tile were/still are my suppliers, or I order online. I watched with great interest as Schluter rolled out KerdiBoard a few years, and finally had the opportunity to use it last month on a small repair project for a friend who had confused his gardener with a carpenter and tile setter. LOVE LOVE it! Still trying to figure out if I can use it to build a roman tub. Why am I always on the experimental edge?

Regarding the Kerdi-Fix availability thing (all these years later it's still hard to find, esp after 5pm) - I did the research and discovered that K-Fix is a Polyurethane adhesive of a certain sort..... and there are a couple of off the shelf substitution options one can pick up at Homer's. They are:

SikaBond - 10.1 fl. oz. Interior and Exterior Ultimate Grab Adhesive

Old thread, but since it's been resuscitated?

Kerdi-Fix is not a polyurethane based sealant. It's silane based. If you want a Sika equivalent, use SikaFlex 505.

SikaFlex or SikaBond is available at HD and is every bit as good as KerdiFix. At about $6 a tube as opposed to $20+ a tube, it's a "no brainer."

Is Kerdi Fix sandable like SikaBond?
