Cooktop vs range may depend on your kitchen layout and if the brand you like/want makes the induction range. An induction range will (most likely) cost less than induction cooktop + separate oven. I wanted a Miele induction and they did not have a range option so I went with the cooktop and separate ovens. I like the 36" for the added space and extra hob - which I need from time to time.

I've found that there isn't a lot available in induction ranges at this time. I had hoped that by the time I'm ready to install, someone may have one I like.

I do a lot of baking and the oven options on the few induction ranges I've seen don't have what I want.

Though once I accepted that I'd need to go with separate units, I started thinking about a double wall oven and now I've got my heart set on that so even if a range I liked came out, I'd probably pass it up. I've been planning this over a year so I've got the funds saved up.

There are too many induction cooktops out there to describe them all here. Try this site first.
