great 'pro' range under $2k?

i have been reading all the discussions regarding ranges since i am in the market for one myself, but price is a concern. i'm looking for a standalone gas range, either 30" or 36", for under $2k (including shipping/installation). i bake a lot, so the oven is equally as important to me as the performance of the burners. would love to find a "scratch and dent" deal or refurb so i can afford a high-quality range, but i'm not sure where to look in the los angeles area (or online). any advice, including recommendations for online dealers, would be most appreciated.

wish list:

sealed burners

convection option

second oven/warming drawer

large capacity oven

high-output burners

five or six burners

fairly easy to clean/maintain

a color other than black or stainless

i'm considering:

bluestar (but can't find a local dealer to check one out in person)

ge profile

jenn-air

montague

wolf

i've looked at and don't care for:

bosch

dcs

dacor

kitchenaid

thermador

viking

thank you!

Boy , that's a tall order given all the features you want, brands you've eliminated AND you want it in a fashion color. Given your price point you're going to have to scour the RE-Stores, Craigslist, the Classifieds, and the L.A. appliance outlets that cater to factory off goods, even then you're going to have to wait for it to fall in your lap.

P.S. - have CASH waiting when it appears.

You might do well to chat up the people at places like Surfa's and Sur La Table. Anywhere that TKO people go to talk about their obsessions. Also, check places like Carlson's, Snyder Diamond, etc., that are smaller but carry the high end stuff. They might have one that someone refused delivery on or something, that they'll sell for less to unload it.

    BlueStar's dealer locater says:

For a list of Southern California retailers, please call:

    BKE Supply
    Southern California Distributor

I got a Jenn Air on craigslist for free. The oven works sporadically and the cook top works okay most of the time. It does not have high output burners, but it does have a grill. Basically, I got what I paid for. You may be wise to consider waiting until you can afford a little more. I think the Bertazzoni can be had for around 3K and it may have the features you are seeking. Plus--their attractive and people on the GW seem to really like them.

Hey well I have a suggestion that fulfilles only a small part of the list of requierments but check it out anyways. IKEA sells a 36" stainless sealed 5 burner convection range(Praktfull series). It's $1949. The package with range backsplash and 400cfm vent hood for $2999.
check the catalog on page 73

thanks for the help so far. someone suggested american range (36", six burners and gas oven) with the great deal of $1,180 at an online retailer. thoughts?

Be careful what you will get in American at that price is not a residential range. It will have no broiler and need special installation because it belongs in a restuarant not a home.

Be sure you understand how the Bertazzoni works if you chose that option.

You mentioned the American but look at the Residential line - they come in colors. There is also a 30" model and a 36". Sealed burners w/ss top (not black).

The place mentioned in the other thread, "appliance wherehouse?" or something like that, is in Agoura. It's called Warehouse Discount Center. Also, Universal Appliance is in Studio City. It's probably worthwhile to try local first. You should be able to get anything in L.A. :)
