We usually cook bacon in the oven during the heating months and in the microwave during the cooling months. On the rare occasions when we cook it on the stovetop we use an old cast iron skillet.

If you like crisp bacon I recommend a large cast iron skillet with a bacon press. Both are inexpensive and you can't beat this combo for flat and crisp bacon.

cast iron griddle makes great bacon, but a baking sheet in the oven is the most efficient/convienent.

My cast iron skillet is not large enough - how large is yours?

efmiller - The skillet we use for bacon is an 11-1/4" Griswold. It's big enough for six slices. We only cook bacon in the skillet when we are going to cook something immediately afterwards in the bacon grease and the bacon is part of the recipe.

QVC has square pans with the bacon press. It is also great for grilled cheese.

My mom has been here for 2 weeks and uses this pan every day.

It makes great bacon.

If I am doing a large amount of bacon, I put it in the oven. Lots less messy.

I use my cuisinart griddler (folded like the George Foreman). No splatter, cooks fast, grease drips conveniently into a cup.

We cook ours outside on the grill. Our grill has a griddle and we use that for all splatter type foods.
