There is no rational way to determine "best."

John Boos sells excellent wood cutting boards in the premium category.

I am sure there is some tiny shop that sells ultra premium drop dead gorgeous boards for a king's ransom but for a practical and durable POV I really like my John Boos.

I just ordered a Paula Deen acacia cutting board that is 18x24 and has circles etched for measuring pie dough. My other boards are too small for pie dough, and so I really needed this and wanted to get it while it is still available. Several stores no longer sell her merchandise.

John Boos is the largest American Company making butcher block.

Paula Deen and other celebrity chefs just put their name on mostly generic products made in China.

You almost always get better value buying direct from a company that makes things as opposed to a marketing company.

Paula Deen Signature Pie Board is made in random Asian factories, the current model being made in Thailand.

The best cutting board in my experience are made of Bamboo. They last for years and years. The next best are boards made of hard maple. Beautiful and durable. NancyLouise

chicagotrek3453 - this thread is almost 2 years old. I really doubt the OP is still around or, if s/he is, still needs help. Please don't bring up these old threads as they knock threads regarding current issues off the first page. (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt...)

I have 2 Boos boards. Both are large, but the larger on started to bow so now it spins a bit ;-( So, I fortunately found a large Boos made of black walnut at Home Goods, and it has plastic feet which makes it very stable.

I love it. Gorgeous.
