New wok - help!

I recently purchased my first ever wok... When I looked up how to season the wok online the article instructed me to use peanut oil. However, as I am allergic to peanuts I thought that olive oil would be a suitable alternative..

One very smoky kitchen later and I realise that I was wrong!

In order to continue using/seasoning my wok, do I need to remove the olive oil seasoning and start the process again? Or will I be fine to continue using a different kind of oil? The bottom of the wok is now a nice, shiny black.

I don't want the wok to create large amounts of smoke every time I use it. Will the coating on the wok from the olive oil cause harmful contamination to the food cooked in it?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer!
