My General Feeling is that if you don't want people to snag your material then don't post it in a public domain. If I were to copy and use a picture I would probably give credit as a courtesy but would be less likely to ask for permission to use it.

If you don't like tracking cookies then delete them and adjust your security settings.

If you don't want people knowing who you are then don't post here because your IP address is displayed and tracable.

Bottom line, be smart on the Internet. And lighten up about your pictures.

I have no problem with pictures I post. I also post many videos of my cars as well as friends (with their permisson)
on Utube. The comments made about pictures were by other users. I used that as an example to show why I posted this "Off Topic" post.

Spies can take up a lot of your cmptr's resources, especally web-browsing, I recall helping a lady in Canada who complained her cmptr had slowed to a crawl--She had 3400 spies---yep 3400---I showed her where to get a program to zapp them.

I just wanted to make ppl aware that whenever they access this site-----they will receive about 16 tracking cookies/and or adaware.

PPl can make their own choice as to whether they like that or not----As you know, some of our posters here are NOT cmptr gurus and may not even know such things as adware/tracking cookies exist, and if the want, they can express their feelings about same.

I always clear my cache and cookies when I am done -- does that take care of it???

The easiest and fastest way is to use Yahoo Antispy , it only takes about 5 seconds to scan them and delete them.
It will only look for "Really Nasty Bugs"(trojans etc) if it suspects one(that takes longer)--which there are none on this site.

Yahoo is hardly without blame, with their toolbar being basically their way of knowing quite a bit about what you do. What? You thought they did that out of the goodness of their heart?

Anyways, if you use Firefox and AdBlock all the cookies I see here are pretty confined to gardenweb.com. Yes, if you are taking the ads, then you get tracked all over.

To be clear -- iVilliage's terms are very similar to what you find on most sites with a decent legal team. The You also permit any visitor... clause is stretching it a little, but I can live with that.

Like the KD (I think he was a KD) a month or two ago who took a member's picture of her kitchen and posted it on his commercial site... He later claimed he didn't mean to imply he did the work...really???? (He got all bent out of shape when people were unhappy with him trying to pass of someone elses work as his own.)

But unless specifically stated I would not assume that the kitchen pictured on a KD's site is his or her own creation any more than I'd assume that the lady I can call for $1.99/minute looks anything like the models shown on late night commercials. There's a difference between marketing and portfolios.

I'm with you, buehl. If I wore a really nice outfit to church, would you assume it belonged to me? Yes. If I posted photos on my Kitchen designer's web site, would you assume that was a kitchen done by me? Why would I be posting photos of someone else's work on my site?
