I have the DCS 30" Eurohood - it's the older model one - a bit different from the one they currently sell. It's 600 CFM but only 19" deep. It works fairly well but in hindsight a deeper hood would be better. I also should have mounted it at 30" above the cooktop instead of 36". I do get some grease on the front of the hood. I was limited in my choices because I already had a 6" duct in place that I wasn't able to easily replace.

I should have given more info. Outside wall, 96 in above floor we have a structural beam across the wall so I am planning a direct out the wall vent, hopefull can finish it off nicely at the bottom of the beam. Quiet on low is important as I know low is what I would use most for my needs. Odors and steam is the main thing, very limited grease or smoke. Lights important, not warming light. There is no plan for upper cabs on this wall.

We picked a VentaHood liner unit, actually two of them, with a custom stainless steel "hood" cover to make them look like one hood. This is over a DCS 36" AG range, which is flanked by a 15" induction cooktop & 15" teppanyaki grill cooktop. We'd only need one VAH with just the range. We're very happy with VAH. It's relatively quiet, has good lighting, and great pull.

Thanks for responses. I have thought of the DCS hood, Broan as well as VAH. I will admit I like the looks of the baffles better than the VAH but this will be a function over form decision. I have had minimal help in appliances stores to include "you don't need one", "you don't want a 36 over a 30 inch range" etc so I will depend on advise here. After listing more info and I am hoping for more responses.

I have a 36", 27" deep, chimney style VAH over a 36" DCS. It is the 600 CFM, 18" tall NouveauPro(?) model & it's been great for the past 5 years, both in performance & looks.

antiquesilver, thanks for info. How about the noise level especially on low?

I don't find the noise level bothersome (especially on low), but everyone has a different tolerance level - & there are so many variables that can affect the actual noise generated. I've never had a good vent before so I have nothing to compare it too, but to me, the performance far outweighs any discomfort.
