I have the Monogram 4 burner cooktop with grill which I really enjoy. I looked at both the Monogram fridge and wall ovens but thought for the price difference they were not that much superior to the Profile. So far the Profile fridge and oven have met all of my expectations and then some.

Monogram is suppose to compete with the top lines: DCS, Wolf, Decor, Viking, etc... It is the top of GE's line. Profile is an upscale slot but not the top of the line in appliances. It depends on how you want to set your kitchen in image. Like a car you can buy a BMW or you can buy a Volkswagen both will be functional but a BMW set you a part with the image. Both are good cars. Same thing for appliances. If you want to spend more for the image and a little more look and maybe a couple more bells and whistles then go with the Monogram. I have shopped for both and I preferred the Mongram because of the look and image. Quality is the same in my opinion. You are talking about 1/3 more in total price for the Monogram appliances if it the same size appliances.

I had a brand new Monogram all fridge and all freezer and IMHO I'd stay as far away from the brand as possible. $5000 plus and they didn't last a year. The fridge is home to the biggest mold colony and the parts where the mold was growing cannot be replaced but according to GE it's operating within normal parameters and they did nothing. Our frost free freezer has so much ice build up that the drawers and hence the door don't close. As the fridge is a medical hazard we replaced with Miele. SZ would have been the same price as the GE monogram.

I've had a Monogram freezer-on-the-bottom built in and a Monogram dishwasher and I love them both. The only problem I've had with the fridge is that he door units that hold the milk have broken at the bottom. They are expensive to replace.

You realize both Profile and Monogram are made in China though?

For made-in-China appliances, I will go with the cheapest price out there. Monogram is a joke, how can any made-in-China appliance charge that kind of premium? They are even coming off the same factory line as the mainstream GE.

No, and I will never buy one just based on the fact that GE is trying to charge me so much on a made-in-China appliance. I will gladly pay the same amount or more for European-made appliances.

Remodel - would you care to go on record publically and state WHICH Monogram appliances are made in China .........if you even know.

P.S. the European's have figured out they can capitalize on cheap Asian labor too and are starting to whore out their company names.

After checking with GE I found out that their ranges are made in Mexico. Dish washers are manufactured in Louisville,KY. and refrigerators are assembled in Louisville from parts produced in several different countries. They do have plants in Malaysia but products mfg. there are not imported into the US.

We have had Monogram appliances for 7 years and had no problems whatsoever. French door counter depth fridge, advantium oven, dual microwave/convection, induction cooktop and dishwasher. We plan to put them in our newly purchased house as well!

A couple of other differences yhat dont seem appparent monogram appliances have a 2 yr warranty Cafe and Profile have a 1 yr warranty

Monogram is supposento ise heavier materials to perform more like a professional appliance

Heres how i compare them like buying a car ypu can by a Ford Escape, but3 levels of models

S Model = Profile cheaper price

SEL= Cafe Series middle price

Titanium = Monogram most expensive

you can say or be told that they all have the build and the options are different However, if you drive a S model and a Titanium for awhile youll notice the difference you can try and make a SEL model into a Titanium by adding options, but it will still not be the same as the Titanium IMHO the high end model is built better overall
