ROUND! creative advice please. Currently the armoire holds all the office supplies. We lost the study to our fourth child we just adopted. Desk is somewhat deep for window area but I could try (31''). The room is used for play, reading, games on floor. TV is in large family room on wall. Family room is across living and dining. Bookcase in dining room is only temporarily moved there due to Halloween; it's usually on left wall. However I'd like to have either floating shelves on left wall or a granite piece on fun base. The chaise is usually in my bedroom. I switched out a yellow chair and ottoman that needs to be recovered.

I would paint the room a warm gray, it looks like you have a good start with the samples on the walls. Paint the wainscoting semi-gloss, and a few shades darker than the grey on the walls. This will highlight the great feature in your home. Your dining room set is very dark, and weighs down the room. I would either replace all of the chairs for lighter ones, or just replace the two host chairs. I have attached some pictures below. I would then also get a new rug, lighter with a more cohesive pattern. Remove the bookcase from in front of the windows in the DR- it makes the room feel cluttered. I would move the armoire into the DR, and paint it a fun color- as you suggested. Then put the chase along the armoire wall, and move the red leather chairs and dark side table to where the chaise was. In the red chair's place, you can add two small accent chairs, or a settee with the curvy white side table and lamp. Then, purchase a coffee table to ground the room, and give you more functionality and storage. You are off to a great start- good luck!

I'd prefer to see less furniture in the room to really play up the unique round shape. I would suggest removing the chaise and existing desk in favor of a round desk in the bay. I love the pairing of the rustic chair and contemporary table in this example.

This may sound strange, but have you ever thought of putting the armoire in the area between the columns of your "entry?" It would face the room and you would upholster the back of it and put a slender table against it facing the door with a nice floral arrangement.

We completed a remodel 3 years ago and before we decided to add "up", we put a piece of furniture there (a hutch), to see if we wanted to wall off the room. We did not like it at all... too closed up and awkward!

The leather red chairs are Ethan Allen, and the dining room chairs are from World Market. Other chairs and furniture pieces are antiques. I need to re-post. I painted and rearraged, plans for something else soon
