Nah. You'll have enough trouble getting the range's steam down the hole (of course you HAVE a downdraft already so you know it works better than some say but not as good as an updraft).

Why not an induction cooktop and a popup downdraft behind it? Or spend lots of time on the kitchen forum and see what else you can do?

Of course if you're just replacing the range and not the whole kitchen I see the problem. I'd wait if possible. Jenn-Air won't miss out on the induction downdraft thing for long!

Last summer someone posted a link (see below) for this "Western Premium" downdraft induction cooktop, but it still seems to be "coming soon"...

Then you'd need to find a place for an oven, I suppose.

Here is a link that might be useful: Western Premium induction cooktop with downdraft

Fori: good thought on waiting to see if Jenn Air comes out with an induction downdraft range....

Fori and ChacMool: I could go with a cooktop/downdraft and a separate oven ( that's what the house had at some point before we owned it.) However, that's a considerable larger price.

My thought was the Jenn Air electric glass top range w/convention oven and right beside it installed in the counter beside the range a 2 burner induction cooktop.

I'm not in any huge hurry, so I think I will continue to watch Garden Web for any other ideas or information.
